Jacket is nice, much improved, I just hope the same can be said for the customer service. I've emailed about a jacket at least twice in the past and just never heard back...

So I have pretty much decided to order one of these. But before ordering one I would like to see better photos of the shrunken lamb and the crispe lamb.

I e-mailed Gemma asking if they had any better pictures of the two leathers. We shall see when I get a response.

Great jacket, but I must say that TNO, so far, was the only one able to make the jacket look like the Raiders jacket.
Maybe it's my eyes, but when I look at these pics, I see another great Wested jacket, but not exactly what I see in the movie.
I guess it takes Harrison Ford to make any jacket look SA

You know, I had a TNO Raiders jacket in Nowak goat and was not happy with it. The leather was too thick and it just did not represent what I saw on screen, so I got rid of it and I've not missed it since.

I have a TNO Raiders in shrunken lamb. When I get this new Wested Hero version it will be interesting to compare the two.

Huh? You just said the TNO jacket is what you see on screen so the comment about Harrison (although I largely agree) is redundant, isn't it?

Not at all, you'll remember I too was skeptical about the 'Hero' pattern in an earlier thread.
I did say however, that Whiskyman's Hero from Wested was the most screen accurate Raiders jacket I'd seen, from any vendor.
Just my opinion, of course.
I'm lucky perhaps in not feeling 'burned'. I only ever ordered one Raiders from Wested, which was promptly returned. All the others
were LC/TODs. Had I purchased several Raiders jackets trying to find one that looked 'right', well, I might feel a little differently
about the new Hero pattern (and it slightly dubious origins).
I don't think I'm going out on a limb by saying it's about time they got it right.
On a more positive note, it does look great, and the price can't be beat.

Hi Tex and fellow Indy maniacs
A quick question from a relative newbie from across the pond so forgive me if i'm being a dumbass. But what is the "water treatment" and how do you do it? I'm assuming its for shaping the jacket to the wearer. Actually thats two questions
Cheers

"The water treatment" can range from wiping down with a hot damp rag,to putting a jacket under the shower (sometimes you getting into the shower with the jacket on),and goes right up to putting it in the washing machine.
All this is designed to do is take shine off the face of the leather, make a jacket look old and wrinkled, and stretch/mold or even shrink the leather if you use very hot water.

the jackets are more standard straight cut. meaning not much tapering towards the hem/waist.

Holt is right about the cut.
As to the water treatment, well, that's one of those things that you can honestly get by without, all things considered. I don't know that leather was made to be slam dunked into the great abyss, but it happens, and probably better without, but some like the lived in feel to the jacket right away. It does take the shine off, somewhat, but the best thing to do is to simply wear the jacket, use it and build a few adventures of your own.

If an example of each of these jackets were made as a display or something, it would be beneficial to see what they look like with the new skins. Looks like one has already been made with shrunken lamb.

Beautiful jacket!! But are they really only making sizes 38-44? So us bigger guys are screwed?? Ya know most people I've met comment on my size, being tall and larger than most, and I'd give it all just to fit into a 42 or 40 Raiders jacket...Please help the big guys!! We need gear too!!

Yes but why bother when they get better pics of their products (good and bad) on here. The Wested site has always stunk at showing any decent photos of stuff. I only chose my hide after seeing Fifthchambers pre-dis jacket. They may as well have a big disclaimer that just says "DON'T BOTHER! JUST RING PETER!" I love Wested but just wish they were a bit less ramshackle.

Okay, so, I almost bit the bullet and ordered a hero in the shrunken lamb but after being told it was a thick leather and the heat index was 100 today, I decided that I better just stick with the light weight lambskin. Does anyone know how to order this pattern in a different skin than what is being offered short of calling?
I wonder if I just order a custom job but request the Hero Pattern in the notes section notes would work? They emailed me to confirm my notes for my last Wested so I assume they do look at them.

Only flaps on the "Hawaii jacket" have straight corners.
Main Hero (flying wing, raven bar, etc...) => different jacket, different flaps (less straighter corners)

Don't get me wrong, the new Hero jacket out of Wested looks great. But Holt seems right, the pocket flaps look more like those on the LC jacket. I think US Wings really nailed the Raiders pocket flap shape on their latest 30th anniversary jacket.
Regardless, at the end of the day, I don't care that much about screen accuracy, but it is fun to discuss nevertheless.
