Yeah...that was what I meant. I think the Schott factory got the job of fixing the pocket placement problem. I think the import longs are still available, but I think they're all now at the Hudson storefront.

And yes...the Schott made ones are the US made...

That would be wonderful considering the level of Schott's craftsmanship. [-o<

My understanding was that the import longs were all pulled from the circulation and sent to Sarge at the Hudson factory..

So...all the longs that were imports period...at least that's the way I understood it to be.

Okay, so I don't know why it happened, but the jacket I received yesterday was identical to my first jacket (high pockets). I wasn't able to get a hold of Sarge, but I spoke with Myke. He said the new imported longs arrived today and that the pocket placement on those is correct. I'm not really sure how I got this jacket again - probably an honest mistake. As this isn't a life or death situation, I'm willing to give them the benefit of the doubt.

Excellent. News directly from a head of the business. Looks like we may be getting our corrected jackets quite soon! Thanks for keeping us updated. I'm still holding on!

Was the jacket you received the same one you sent back?

Or was it a different one, but still having the same problems with the pocket placement?

In all likelihood it was a different jacket, but as they were both imported cowhide large longs with high pockets, the only differences would have been distinguishing marks in the leather. I didn't own either jacket long enough to become familiar with those marks.

Why would they let that kind of jacket leave the shop especially since that's why you returned the first one? Its not a case of SA like Sarge states but the pockets are too high. Those jacket should've been all boxed up going to whomever that would fix them.

Well, thing is, that's something that can't really be 'fixed', as the pockets had to be lowered on the jackets to make them correct.

Once you lowered the existing pockets, it would have left holes that, unlike cloth, don't heal over.

Those jackets will (or should) end up in inventory to be sold elsewhere.

I believe he may have been referring to fixing at the pattern level...not actually 'fixing' the existing jackets.

Almost seems like they could hem the bottom of the jacket and sell them as regular length jackets...seems smarter to me anyways. I think even a non-indy fan would have issues with the pocket placement on that jacket.

Then the side straps would be too close to the bottom of the jacket... :(

True, and if you had to cut and hem above the current jacket sew lines to eliminate the holes, the bottom of the jacket would be above your beltline.

Is there a way to tell the difference between a US made and an import when holding the jackets in hand?

The Imports have inside leather facings while the US made ones don't.

However, the easiest way to tell is check the label. The US made ones have an easy to see "Made in USA" label (not trying to be snarky, just being factual) while the Imports have "Made in Pakistan" hidden behind the size label.

I actually didn't know there was a difference between the two, but now I'm especially glad I got the imported one. With my luck, the zipper would catch every time if I didn't have leather facings.

I have mixed feelings about the inside facings.
On one hand, it does keep the liner out of the zipper. However, the facing on mine goes up around the shoulders a and they tend to bunch up there.

When it comes time to replace the liner on mine (it's already starting to get "pilled up" and has a few runs) I'm going to see if the facings can be made thinner and remove the section that goes over the shoulders.
I'd like them to be just wide enough to keep the liner away from the zipper, but thin enough so that they are not noticeable when I wear the jacket.

If Mike has an email, I'd email him because he seems to answer fast. The email that starts with 'info' normally doesn't get replied to.

TheExit, I'm almost wishing I had done so also. Maybe I'll get lucky and receive my jacket this week.

I gave my yahoo email on the order but I'm not sure if they can't get yahoo emails etc? I never got a shipping confirmation before either. Isn't one from UPS suppose to be sent?

The e-mail I was sent was from someone in customer service. Hopefully when I get a reply it will explain a few things.

Either all of this has been way too much trouble. All I wanted was the jacket that I ordered. I shouldn't have to go through so much work with a major business like US Wings to receive my order.

I ordered mine in SL US made in October. I received a email exactly like yours in January? The jackets weren't even made yet? So I wouldn't worry I think it's a email they just send out.

The problem is that they were made.

But in the end, I did say that they estimated for the jackets to ship this Monday or Tuesday. They didn't mention everybody, but simply that my corrected jacket would be sent. I guess they only did a limited number or they meant strictly mine.

Well, I have not received the back order email yet. My guess is that I was one of the lucky few to have been shipped a jacket. In trying to look for the flip side to all this, you'll be able to see the corrected jacket and know if it's worth it or not. Although, I haven't received a shipping number yet. Didn't last time though either. :-k

For what its worth,
I was on the original list for SL Legend. Sent an email that they were out but that I could buy the US version for a lot bigger price tag. Canceled. When the Legend cowhides recently went on sale, I ordered...next day got a phone message that they didnt have my size, except in the higher priced US version. My size was on a two week back order. So, next day I canceled my order. I know they take several weeks to issue a refund as I was charged already. After several weeks, sent some emails inquiring where my refund was...no response.
This last Friday I recieved an email stating that I am recieving a package from US Wings this Thursday (4lb weight) so I am assuming its the jacket. I am sure it is a nice item but all this has just left a very bad taste in my mouth. I really hope the jacket is really that great cuz I need some major shmoozing to say anything favorable right now....especially reading about fellow gearheads headaches...just really rubs me the wrong way.

Gorak,
With the way they are in answering emails amongst other things, I wonder if it would be easiest for you to just sell it? Somebody would probably buy it because it's new and they can see the product before they buy it. It would save you the hassle of returning it and trying to get a refund. Just a thought (maybe it would be a bad idea?) :-k

Just got a reply from Myke;
I apologize. We had a few jackets come in from our manufacturing facilities with the corrected pockets. All that came in went right back out. We are working with the plant to correct the rest as soon as possible. Right now it is looking like 6 – 8 weeks however.
So it sounds like a few jackets went out, but I wasn't included. I guess I will wait and see what these jackets look like. I am debating whether or not to just cancel my order and get a refund. I feel like even when I get my jacket (if I ever do) I will always feel my disappointment and frustration that I went through to get the jacket every time I wear it.

This is the whole "ick" thing with Hollowpond. He has a very good point. Regardless of how nice the product is, a lot of times you don't even care because of what you went through. My guess is that I'm getting my jacket tomorrow or Thursday. I will be sure to immediately post photos. :TOH: Then maybe you can decide if you'd like to cancel or not.

Couldn't agree more. I wouldn't EVER buy a US Wings after all this. I also was on the original SL wait list, and that whole thing just burned me, and Sarge saying if I couldn't afford the more expensive jacket then I shouldn't be buying any jacket because I must be too financially strapped ... at least that was the gist.

Mixed feelings on the 'ick' thing. :-k

When I go to a restaurant, I don't back and shoot the cook because I received lousy service from the waiter, especially if the food was excellent.

Just saying, try to keep things separate. If you get a lousy jacket, THEN shoot the cook. ;)
