Is this a new hat or an old one?

I bought it new a little less than two years ago. It's been sitting in a box in the closet most of that time. I posted a previous photo in which I'm wearing it. When I ran across the hat yesterday, I kind of liked the shape the brim had taken over time, so I snapped a few pics -- 'cuz I know how beloved the DP is around here! ;)

Hello, everybody,

I know we don't have to talk/write about, if the crushable water repellent fedoras are screen accurate or not.
You know, most don't have the correct size, height and so on...
But I am very interested in the water repellent and crushable function of these hats.
Does anybody know a hat which looks ...of course...ähm perhaps...96% screen accurate and got the same functions as well?
I love to travel and I think it would be nice to have a good looking crushable fedora with me :-k

That's a wool version of the Christy's adventurer. It doesn't look like it's technically a crushable hat though.

I have one and it's a good hat for the price. It's really more of a costume hat. If you're going to be wearing it a lot and in the elements, I wouldn't really reccommend it. But for the money, it's pretty good. ;)

A few months before I joined COW, before I knew jack about this hobby, my girl who worked at Cracker barrel saved one of the Indy hats they had there. When I came in to take a look at it my reaction right away was "That is NOT the hat!" - though good hats for the price as previously stated, for the hardcore Indy fan, you gotta go higher-end (and non-licensed) to get a movie-accurate hat.

I paid good money for a Miller 'official' hat years ago before I knew what the H was going on, and I've never replaced it. Really an excellent fur-felt fedora, just not the 1930s-style that we all now know is correct. Obviously I removed the stupid pin from the bow. I mean, I have my standards! LOL Maybe pictures later, but it's the standard 'DP' cut.

Here are pics of my Stetson licensed purchased circa 1990 (while I was in High School) from an Indy fan club catalog I believe. The bash and ribbon are disgusting, but the rabbit fur doesn't feel too bad and it's nice to have in the winter. I hope to upgrade at some point.

I wasn't sure on the size when I ordered it so it ended up too big. Hence, I fashioned a size-taker-downer out of a handkerchief. The hat sat in it's original box (which I still have) for some time and has a small bit of mouse chewing on the brim near the back. All of this gives it character in my opinion!!! I wear it often, but am looking forward to a new one.

Are you positive it was a mouse. That would be a first. Moths, I've heard of. Mice? Never heard of a mouse going to town on a felt hat.

Well, I'm not absolutely sure, but I seem to recall....ummm....mouse droppings in the hat box. :-0 It's really just a couple of pretty small chunks on the right edge of the brim. Anyway, the hat is still in pretty good shape for being nearly 20 years old. The felt is pretty soft and fairly floppy.

Thanks Dangerman or should I read that in the same tone as someone who would say, "Yeah, it sure is...uh...something!", ;), because I sometimes look at it and say that to myself! Anyway,

Kind Regards,
CaptainKatanga

Y'know, it's kinda' funny... the overall shape of it is not too far off the look of the hat Daniel Craig wears in the Cowboys & Aliens trailer.

Katanga, I didn't mean it sarcastically. It does have character. :TOH:

All of the 'high end' fedoras available around these parts are crushable.
