Spoke to Someone today, possibly Peter....
It was 1145 Massachusetts time and he said it was ten of 5 there. He had no record of my order. He told me to call back tomorrow to speak to Gemma to see if my order has been started yet. However, he also told me that they had sent out 30 jackets that day, and it was possible my jacket had been sent out either yesterday or today, and that the paperwork hadnt caught up with the order yet, which he says happens often.
Peter, I love your company, but I think someone is going to have to do something in terms of order confirmation numbers, tracking numbers, order status, all on a PC or MAC so that people will stop calling to aggravate you at closing time.

The guy you spoke too probably was Peter himself: as far as I know, he's the only male who answers the phone. He always kind of blurrs his name when answering the phone though.
Wow, That's some bad luck.
I'm starting to think they have problems with their computers by now

I have never had any problems with ordering from wested.but I dont use paypal.I do it with the creditcard.why dont try it with that?

Because they already have my money, thats why. My Paypal account shows that I sent the money, and that it was received by them. Im not paying twice for something I havent recieved once.
And if it was Peter I spoke to, hes a very polite gentleman. He seemed as confused about the whole ordeal as I was.
So I sent an email to both
Gemma@wested.com and
Wested@wested.com, as well as resubmitting my order thru Indyjacket.com. Ill keep everyone informed. One of the hard parts of all of this is, Im very frustrated, but Im afraid Peter will read one of these threads and think Im bashing his company, when in fact, Im upset at the situation(and the fact that dumb stuff like this happens to me CONSTANTLY.)and just want it resolved as soon as possible...Maybe they will put a rush on my order now that Ive explained things to the mysterious gentleman.
He ended the phone call with "Cheers!" I thought that was awesome.

Holt, as far as I can tell his payment went through fine, but his order info appears to have gotten lost. I have always used paypal when buying something from Wested, and it works fine. Something must have gone wrong in processing the order.

I sent them an email on Oct 2 with some questions I wanted answered before I placed my email. I still have not gotten a reply.
Maybe they are having computer problems? Or maybe they are just really swamped with queries and orders now?
Hopefully I'll hear from them soon.

I know you are not bashing Peter at all and I will attest to that if it ever needs to be cleared-up.
Allthough I know missery likes company, I hope this glitch is an isolated incident and nothing serious (computerwise I mean) because that would be bad for both Wested and their customers. Peter (and Gemma as well) has always been very curtious with me and, so I read, with many others on this board and I hate to see computers throw a spanner in the wheels.
I hope that all ordering troubles are behind you now and that you will have your jacket soon my friend.

I think their spam filter is to blame.
People who don't get mails getting through, it's not personal. Last time I was over there I was chatting with Peter about something I emailed him, "nope, never got it." We had a look at his mails and sure enough when the looked by sender about 1/3rd of the mails I'd sent him had just disappeared into the ether.
I'm sure they are just sitting in a bit spam cash somewhere. Try again, maybe use a different email address or word your header differently. "About My Jacket" probably appears a bit too much!
If you are calling and want Gemma try calling early US time, ie 8-9 oclock in the morning, that will hit the UK in the middle of the day. Remember we can be up to 8 hours ahead of you depending on where you are in the US and time of year.

I've had email problems also with Wested when I ordered my NH shirt. It almost seemed like pulling teeth trying to get responses from Gemma. Also when I would send questions through ebay it would be the same thing.

I gave my credit card number, but no NH shirt. I remember sending questions and ended up seeing if it was better through Ebay. Some response, but none to seal the deal. I ended up not getting a new jacket from them.

However I find it hard to believe that they would allow their business to be compromised in such a way by that.
Like Indiana Joyce I am not putting them down at all, just noticing they have been hit by a curious streak of bad luck.

I resent my questions to
gemma@wested.com and got a prompt response. She said she never got my first email. On the second one I changed the subject line to make it more descriptive. Maybe that helped.

I finally have order confirmation...just no explanation as to how the original several emails and original order never went thru. I know all that matters is that Im getting my jacket now, I just highly doubt it will get here by halloween. It needs to get here in at least 30 days, Im going to a convention on the 18th of November and had hoped to break in the jacket and give it some sleeve creases by then.

So you can imagine my exitement when the doorbell rang and it was somebody delivering a package!
Unfortunately it turned out to be something else...
Oh well, it's only twelve o'clock in the afternoon, so it may still arrive...

Yes, it does **** up water, but my estimate is that unless you aren't in a town when the rain hits, you'll have plenty of time to get to shelter before it soaks through. I've been caught out in the infamous Dutch rain and stayed relatively dry up to times where my non-leather and/or non raingear jackets would have left me drenched.

well i am looking for something..back when wilsons sold leather jackets instead of purses(geez, wonder why they are going out of business???) they sold a leather protectant aerosol...i sprayed a jacket i bought from them and the sealant never came off. Ive been in some heavy rain and the jacket still looks great. all i have now is pecards and wilsons leather lotion.

yeah..but was that a predistressed hide? if not a can of spray on sealer will set almost forever on a new finish hide.I dont know if that works on a nova hide..but what do I know..I havent tried.but I have a friend who has experienced the same with a new finish hide and a can of sealer.
as you know the nova dont have the protective finish.the pecards WILL darken the hide up.the more you apply the more darker it gets.

so when you say a sealer will set forever, do you mean it will take forever to dry, or it will set the look of it forever? because that might be cool if you got it distressed to the point you wanted it, then sealed it, never have to worry about it. THis novapelle thing is risk for all of us, as its so new no one is really sure whats going to happen in the long run...
And thats kind of weird that the pecards darkens the leather..i got some pecards for my whip and used it on an old jacket and it almost made it come to life again.
well all i can do is wear it, and see if its an everyday jacket, or a once in awhile jacket.

I HIGHLY doubt that it will seal the distressed areas forever.he did it on a new jacket straight after he got it and the ''sealer'' or whatever you like to call it almost did not come of.it was like it ate its way on to the new finsh protective layer.but I am sure it wasnt a good product..maby thats way it did it?
the pecard will darken the leather because the oils goes into the leather fiber.

WHY DOES IT TAKE WESTED SO LONG TO ASNWER THEIR EMAILS?
Joyce, I totally feel for you. I ordered a NH Tie and Used Bag. I paid with paypal but the screen froze. So I had to exit out and then I checked paypal to see if the money was sent, it was but no confirmation from Wested. I sent Gemma or whoever three emails about three days ago. I then tried to order some more NH stuff but the site came bringing me back to the order page everytime i hit "checkout".
Now I have to wait 5 or even 6 days to get a response, just to confirm an order. I had to wait 6 days for Gemma to get back in touch with me concerning other NH howard weeks ago. I mean, I guess they can be considered a small operation but to not answer your emails is just ridiclous. If I owned an internet business, I would at least check and respond to my emails every two days, if not one.
So, while I sit here idylling, I have no idea if my order was placed or what?.....Sorry, had to vent!!!

I have only had a problem once getting a response back from Wested, and that was when Peter was coming back from holiday and Gemma was going on hers. This past week when I sent them an e-mail I got a response within 24 hours.
I'm not sure why you are having problems...

Well it seems that all of our emails are going directly into their spambox.
Why they havnet decided to check their spambox every morning, i dont know.
You could call them, which seems to be the only way to get in touch with them. But if your in california, your going to have to figure out the time zone difference, i think they were 5 hours ahead of me here on the east coast, and when I called before 12 it was around 5. so you might have to make a call very very early in the morning or seriously late at night to find out what the dilly is.

If it is a spamfilter problem it could also be that they do not have a spambox to check: If you use outlook or some other mail client the service may verry well not send the spam messages to your PC if you download your mail to your PC. This means spam gets "lost" and can only be seen in the webmail client of your e-mail service.

I would ask for a full refund and then some, maybe a 20% discount or something. It wouldn't be my fault because Wested can check their emails.
I really hate to sound nilistic but if you own a business online, your progrogative should be to check your email everyday!! I check my spam box every two days before I delete. Its not that hard. I am not ripping Peter or Gemma but the money was sent. I ordered and if I fail to recieve what I ordered, that is the business's fault, correct?
I really hope it goes through and I get what I ordered. I really will be upset if I don't.

I really don't want to badmouth Wested, and I'm sure there is a good reason for everything. Or at least I want to believe that there is a good reason for it.
It has now been 37 days since I ordered my jacket and paid for it.
It has now been 27 days snce Gamma emailed me to let me know my jacket would be shipped in 7-10 days.
It has now been 6 days since I phoned Wested and was told that my jacket would be there in 4 days.
I really, really don't want to say negative things about them, and most of all I do not want to leave them negative feedback on the auction site we all know and love that I bought the jacket through.
I really, really don't.
But what I don't understand is, if there was a problem with the order, wich they were obviously aware of a minimum of 27 days ago, why didn't they just let me know?
I mean all it would take would be a simple email letting me know that there was a problem and the jacket would be arriving later. Is that an unreasonable thing to ask?

Well from personal experience I can tell that mondays and the TNT ( Dutch Post service) aren't the best combo's BUT you'll certainly get it tommorow

As it was now past four o'clock and nothing was here yet, I decided to give Wested another call.
The lady I spoke to on the phone (wich I presume was Gemma) told me that they were still waiting on the jacket to be delivered.
A little upset with that I asked why I hadn't been told about this. She said she had sent me an email. I have no doubt that she did, however I never received that email. So it would seem the email communication problem appears to be working both ways.
And no, it's not in my spam filter. But if she sais she mailed me, then I believe her.
She then told me that the jacket I had ordered was a lambskin, but these had not arived, They did have the goatskin ones. So I asked if I could perhaps update my order to a goatskin one and that I would be happy to pay the difference in price.
She then said that there was a 20 pound difference in price, but that she would be happy to send me that one with no extra charge. A very generous gesture, I thought!
It also turned out that there was some confusion about the size I had ordered. I think that may be mostly my own fault. I originally ordered a 42, but after measuring again and most notably reading messages on COW, I had come to the conclusion that I would need a 40. I had sent that email half an hour after the first one, but I guess that was lost in email limbo along with the rest of them.
She has now promised me that she will send me the goatskin jacket tomorrow. So here I am hoping that I will eventually get to wear a Wested jacket....
