And on a positive note in regards to good looking hats, Ken has finished my Metropolitan and will be shipping it out very soon. He had also informed me that he is beginning to fill orders as well. Good news for all.
Now will be the anticipation for when it shows up, so I figure that the end of next week will be a happy day indeed.

Thanks gang! So far I'm quite pleased with the Camptowns. I can't wait to see what the "Noir" model will look like. It'll be a fabulous Winter hat that would go well with Adventure (Alpine) outfits.

ah.. I'm guessing the resizing didn't work too well, since I'm now the proud owner of numero 16?

er, I mean.. really sorry the hat didn't fit, bro. no, seriously.

here's the aforementioned number 16.. got it two days ago. it came with an untouched 3" brim.. and I cut off a LOT. actually, it's pretty much dead on to raiders specs.. 2 3/4" front and back, 2 5/8" sides.. and a LITTLE bit smaller where I wanted to emphasize the taper. I'm not sure I even know what I just said, but yeah.... the edges were sanded mostly with 100 grit. I know the brim job isn't SA to any of the movies, and the brim is much smaller than 99% of what's been posted, but I like it.

I have to say mine stuck to my head in a good headwind this weekend. We were out at our boys soccer game and there was one heck of a wind and it didn't budge. I had witnessed a couple of guys shacing theire ball caps that morning. It was too funny.

I just returned from wearing my Fieldmaster in the mountains the past week. It saw everything from heavy rain to hail. Quite literally getting soaking and dripping wet (felt like I could wring the water out of it). But it dried up fine and is still looking great. I think it's well on it's way to gaining it's own character. Now I see snow in it's future.

Well it has clearly passed the "Go Ahead, Just TRY to Kill It" Test ! Your use of it is exactly why I designed it this way. A field hat with the style to make the city scene.

I was wondering the same. I tried calling him yesterday and left a message, pm'd and emailed him- haven't heard anything yet. Hopefully his family is ok and he's busy working.

Yeah, I heard from him the other day. Things are pretty tight for him right now and a tough time of it to boot. Not to bog you down in the details, but the man & his family could really use your well wishes & prayers. A few new hat orders wouldn't hurt either but that is just me saying that. Maybe put that upcoming Federal rebate to good use and help kick start the economy with a 1936 Fieldmaster.

We wish you well Ken, and hope that all will work out fine.

Not yet...I have a line on a used Keppler right now, so I'm waiting to see if that pans out. Also, Ken was waiting on some hat bodies at the time, I believe.

I've never heard of this hat before but it looks great, better than a Federation. It looks like nice and sturdy construction as well. Anyone have experience in regard to it's stability (related to it's tapering over time). Does it beat stock HJ when it comes to that?

I've had mine for a little over two years now and no taper whatsoever. I've worn it in the rain & snow with nary a flinch. It's a great hat all the way around. The grey Metropolitan is the same way but I've only had it for about a year now.

So, has anyone else put in for a 1936 Fieldmaster lately? Are there any new more recent action shots from our existing Camptown owners. For those that have had theirs for several months to a year, how do you think yours is holding up? Has anybody experienced any taper or shrinkage? Let's hear what y'all have to say folks. Don't be shy, share your tales.

My Fieldmaster has survived well in the 2.5 years I've had mine. It has seen rain snow & a desert dust storm. The recent rains a month ago proved it doesn't sag when wet. Plus with the repeated handling the brim has softened up nicely. I even managed to get that funky Cairo brim swoop, not by turning the hat, but by simply squashing the hats sides in and then putting it on. This was my technique to try and get a long oval shape. It seems to have worked.
The Metropolitan is still a work in progress. It looks & feels great after about five months. The inside still needs to shrink & conform to my noggin but that will come in time. I'm using the same techniques on it as I did the Fieldmaster. I may even give the brim a dimensional cut just for good measure. I thinks with a years worth of wearing & playing with it, it too will really soften up and feel just like my Fieldmaster.

A few things I would like to know from Ken, when he chimes in here, is about the current felt bodies. What is the general thickness of the new bodies on both hats? Will this translate to the 'Noir Metropolitan' as well?
Also Ken, would you be open to the idea of a darker ribbon on the Fieldmaster? Lets say either a dark chocolate or a dark slate grey? What say you?

So, has anybody else have anything to add about their Camptowns? Dostacos, how has yours been? Is it a daily wearer?

Just got my Camptown Fieldmaster 3 days ago. It's number 18. It took a little longer to get than I expected but I realize that Ken has had a lot of things going on. Believe me it was worth the wait. Thanks Ken!

The hat is really extremley nice. I own a lot of cowboy hats as I am also involved with SASS (Single Action Shooting Society). But this Camptown Fieldmaster is far superior than any other hat I own. The construction is excellent, the materials are top notch, and the fit is just right. What really impressed me the most is that, even with it's robust materials and construction, it is very soft, subtle and comfortable. Most of my other hats are either stiff like cardbord ar flimsy like cloth. This fieldmaster is perfectly in between. Not stiff, not flimsy, but just right!

I also want to mention that I had Ken do the bash in a LC style and it was just as I wanted it. It would also be very easy to change the bash or increase the pinch if I so desired. The brim is a bit wider than the Indy Hat spec but, as Ken informed me, this is intentionally done so that the owner has some leeway in styling the hat to the individuals taste. He did offer to trim the brim for me if I wanted it done.

I really look forward to wearing this hat and putting some miles on it. It definately looks like it will be extremely comfortable but still can take a beating. I will be posting pics sometime soon, but it pretty much looks just like all the other Fieldmasters I've seen posted here.

If you want a great everyday hat that you won't be affraid to wear everyday I would definately recommend one of Ken's Camptown Fieldmasters!!

I ordered it the beginning of December, so it was about 3 months. I probably could of gotten it earlier but I told Ken to take his time and take care of personnal business first. Plus I took a trip back home to Hawaii the first 2 weeks of February so I again told Ken to take his time as I didn't want the hat to arrive when I was gone.

I think Ken has been able to get past some of the craziness he was dealling with the past couple of months so I don't think it would take that long for him to get a hat to you. Just ask him. He's a great guy to work with!
