Hi I just wondered if it's possible to remove the marks from the raiders turn and reshape my advintage raider's hat to a crusader one?
I'm afraid to try cause I don't wanna try something and end up like my miller hat
It's certainly possible to reshape it! The issue is the "ghost mark" from the off center crease. It's very hard to undo that mark, especially with the really tight front pinch. You could try to steam it out, just don't use too much steam or steam the inside of the hat. That can make it taper like crazy.
You may have to work at it a bit to get the right look in the crown. The crown height on the Raiders and LC is supposedly the same, but the LC hat can look a bit different at times. There's more taper on the front and back of the LC hat than there is on the Raiders and it can take a bit to get that right. It might also take a lot of working with the brim to get it symmetrical, depending on how rigid or floppy the brim is. The LC hat has more of a flange up in the back which might be tricky to get back into the felt if it's off center. But it's certainly possible.
Random question, why do you want to reshape this hat to a LC? I know you have a Fed IV, that might be better suited to the LC look with less work than a conversion from a Raiders. I'm not saying you shouldn't convert your Advintage, just saying that the Fed IV might take less work.

Ahhh, that makes sense. That way you'd have one for each of the original movies, which is pretty cool!
So are you thinking of sending it off to Thomas for a reshape?

Thanks I'm not sure.It depends on how much it costs to do it
In my experience it is very hard to get rid of a tight front pinch. Depending on the felt you may very well still see that faint line (sometimes even after something drastic like a reblock if the pinch was extremely tight). To my eyes it is even more annoying on hats that used to be turned before switching to a LC bash.
After having ruined a couple of hats in my past with way too many drastic reshapes, I think the best option is to enjoy your Harrison as a second Raiders hat. You could maybe tweak the bash to a specific scene and/or add some Fuller’s earth to dust it up if you really want to make it stand out a bit more in your collection.
