Alden 405 Orange to brown.

I know it’s probably been discussed before. And indeed I found a thread lower down about a similar subject but all the pictures don’t work. For me at least.

So anyone have luck toning down the orange color of 405s? I have some Alden dark brown shoe cream on the way but I haven’t tried it yet.

Any other methods? I’ve heard of people dying them but I haven’t seen any before/afters nor any info on the process and dyes used.

Short of buying a par of 403s what’s the best option to get a more brown color?
