S&W Medallion grips

Post by flyit14 »

I recently picked up a 1917 S&W revolver thats going to get the bapty conversion. It did not come with S&W gold medallion grips, so I set about making some.

These are reproduction grips from Numrich and medallions from amazon. The medallions are a little bigger than what was on the real prop I think, but its close. I'll need to weather them a bunch to to make it look like they fit the age of the gun.

That said anyone have a lead on real gold medallion grips? These are really just a placeholder until I find the real deal.

Thanks!

As luck would have it i found a perfect pair of grips on ebay, look just like the bapty grips. Funny how the world works like that. :-k

I'll probably still weather these up to have another pair on hand.

I found the grip with a silver medallion, but kept looking on the Bay, and eventually found a pair.
Just time, or are you saying you found a pair with the right medallion.

Either way, nice piece, now to find the site.

Sorry I didn't word that very well. Yes I found a pair with the correct medallions on ebay shortly after I started this thread. So now I'll have correct original grips and these reproductions I put together.

I also have one of the ramped sights a forum member on here did a few years back. Its all at a local gunsmith right now waiting to get converted. I can't wait to see the result!
