Wested shipping news...

This just in from Wested:

I know a few of the fans have been having trouble receiving their items from DHL. I thought you might like to know we have dumped DHL and changed to www.Parcelforce.com which is a British Company who will hand over to USPS in the states for delivery. In fact they will hand over to each national Post Office for whichever country the package is destined.

Hopefully, this will be an end to ridiculous hold ups and charges.

Yay! When I read the title of this post I was hoping it was to inform us that Wested dumped DHL, which is a little bit of why I haven't ordered a new jacket. When I get a new jacket, it'll probably be late summer. This is definitely good news, thanks for sharing, Mike!

I will second this. I have been toying with the idea of getting myself
another jacket, this time in goatskin, but after reading the horror stories
from people lately, with the outragious fees, there was no way I wanted
to go thru this again like I did with PBB! And I thought THEY were bad!

Going thru the United States Postal Service is indeed good news!! Now
people can actually keep track of their shipments because the post office
does a really good job of tracking its packages, with dates and times at
each and every point the package changes hands.

It was because of this fact that I was able to prove to U.S. Wings that I
sent some stuff back to them for a refund, and actually get my money
back.

Wings kept saying that I never sent them my order back, and refused to
give me a refund, or help me in anyway. But once I went to my local
post office, and got the tracking information, which even included the
persons name at Wings who signed for my package, I had them over
a barrel.

I presented them with my proof, along with a threat from the post office
and the BBB, and I had my money in two days.

The post office is great! That and the fact that I would rather give my
money to the people there because they won't charge for any shipping
or customs until you actually go to pick up the package. Which is
another good thing. There is no PBB or DHL bill that comes two months
later as a surprise, for like 40 more dollars.

This is good as I just placed an order for the set last week. Only thing is when I bought my 1st jacket I never received a bill from anyone. Was this a newer occurence?

I did have to pay some customs on Noel's stuff though.

I recently received my jacket via DHL. It's travelled only five days from the UK to the Netherlands. Pretty quick in my opninion. I can imagine though that shipping to the US is a whole different story.

As some one who has had his jacket held up in customs over a DHL error for over two weeks, I am very relieved with the change. Once the dollar climbs a bit higher, I will be ready to order my second Wested.

I actually had no problems with DHL. It took 5 days from leaving the UK, to arrive at my door, and a weekend killed that right quick. It would have been sooner. My Customs bill was only $21.00. But I understand completely if others have had hard tiems with them, we should definately move on to bigger and better.

Do anyone know wich delivery-agent PARCELFORCE has in sweden??

It seems that the delivery agent here(who ever that is) has failed to contact me for some reason, about a package from wested that arrived in the middle of june.

Now im trying desperately to find wich company it is whos making the delivery. Apparently it,s not the national post office.

Have sent PARCELFORCE a mail about it, but havent get any reply back....

My guess would be Schenker or one of the big airfreighters (UPS, DHL et al)

I never had a problem with DHL or the company before that. The only problem I had with DHL is that I couldn't pay a bill online, and I had to buy a stamp to mail the cheque for the taxes.

But if my post office is now handling it, it means I'll be getting the jacket one day later than the others. DHL required a signature. So if you're there, you sign it. Maybe it's just me and my area, but even if you are at home, Canada Post DOES NOT ring the door bell. They just put a notice on your door saying you have to pay xxx amount of dollars and pick up your package the next day at 'this location'.

My altered Wested came with Schenker up here in Luleå, so that is most likely the case in the rest of Sweden too.

It,s very strange that the delivery.guy didnt left a notice that said they tried to contact you but you werent at home, as they died when i got my first jacket.

And another thing is that on PARCELFORCE site is says "adresse contacted"...??!!

Havent seen any bill, any notice,NOTHING
Where the delivery guy in such a hurry that he forget to leave a notice?

Dont know.

My first jacket got delivered directly with JETPAK with a phonecall from them prior to that. The second one just sat at Schenker while they sent out a delivery note to my mailing address for me to call them and then they would deliver it the next day. Go figure, I got my jacket.

Hi guys, im new to this board and would like to intro myself. The names Josh, but you can call me by that or my nick. I work for the USPS, and I thought I might be able to help you guys out with this one, or offer a little bit of advice.
Since it sounds like its going from Wested to Parcelforce then to us, and not directly from Wested to us, it may take a little bit longer to get here. The only time a signature will be required for a package from us directly, is if its either Delivery Confirmation, Express mail, Insured for more than basic rate (cant think of how much basic rate is off the top of my head), or anything that has a return reciept, which packages rarely do.
I can also suggest to never, ever, ever send any kind of package thru us either Bulk rate, Media mail, or 3rd class cause it will take forever! I once waited 2-3 months for a book to be shipped from Florida to NJ cause the guy sent it the cheap way, (Media Mail) instead of first class. If you go thru us, make sure they send it Priority mail, the price difference is usually within a dollar or two,and you'll get it MUCH faster.
However, since it is being handed over from ParcelPost, I would guess it'll just have "international" look to it, and should go a bit faster than media mail. The only time you can have packages tracked thru us is if its a Delivery confirmation, or something of the sort.
All in all, I would say just ship it Fedex or UPS, as it would prolly get there faster, but I could be wrong.

Welcome Josh!

I have sent several packages back to England and Scotland, and each
time I sent it back Express Mail from my local post office.

I was told by the post office that Express mail was for larger packages,
with insured values over 50 dollars, that will take longer than three days to
deliver. And Priority mail was for smaller packages, usually
weighing less than a pound, have an insured value of less than
50 dollars, and it has to be delivered in two days. Is this correct?

Each time, I insured my package, attached the proper customs
doucmentation, and labeled the box VERY clearly with many, many labels.

And each time, my package took less than one week to arrive across
the ocean!! I couldn't have been happier with the speed at which the
post office sent my packages.

Also, because it was sent Express Mail, with Delivery Confirmation, they
were indeed signed for at each exchange of hands.

As a matter of fact, even some of my packages that I send here in
the states, where some I did not get Delivery Confirmation, still had
signatures of each location change on their way to their final destination.
They didn't have the level of signatures that the Delivery Confirmation
had, but the package still could be tracked via the post office.

I will ALWAYS send my packages thru my local Post Office!! I have yet
to have a problem with anything I have sent, the people are very nice at
the counter, and I have had to sign for, and pick up any jacket purchases
I have made in person, and pay any fees right there, in order to get my
purchase. This helps in preventing theft, or lost packages too!!

A package can weigh as much, or little as you want, and still send it Express or Priority. Express mail overseas doesnt have a garunteed delivery time like it does if you mail it within the USA, to someone in the USA. Sending Express overseas usually takes an extra day or two. Priority mail is the same thing, only costs less, and doesnt have to be signed for. Domestic Priority mailing usually has a delivery time of within 2-3 days, but isnt garunteed. As for packages that are worth more than others, nothing is insured unless you put insurance on the package itself. As far as I know, if by some chance your Priority or Express mail gets lost, your out of money, unless it was insured.
How fast something gets sent out usually depends on customs. Ive had items that were held up at the border for a week, while others passed right on thru, which is something I couldnt understand seeing how it was all hockey equipment I ordered from Canada

Ah, that makes sense. Thanks for clearing that up for us. I was told
by my local post office, and I see on the USPS website, that all Express
mail packages are automatically insured for $100.00, which is included in
the price of shipping. If you wanted to insure your package for more, then
it costs you more. Priority mail does not have an automatic insurance
amount, but I was told it was $25.00. Is this correct?

I can see how stuff would be held up at the border. But I think that if
the packages are sent from the post office, they seemed to get thru to
their destination faster. I sent 4 jackets to Scotland for alterations, and
2 jackets back to Peter in England for exchanges, and each time they
only took 5 days to get there!! In one case, a jacket I sent on a friday
to Scotland, arrived there on tuesday morning!! Now thats fast!

That's what I said. And I just got a package from Wested today. Canada Post did not hand it to me. It was actually Puralator(which is pretty close to Canada Post, but more efficient). Five days to get here and that's with the holidays and weekends.

Problem finally solved!
I got a reply today from parcel force whit another tracking-nr, and managed to track it down
GOOSH! the package had in fact been sitting at SCHENKER all this time!
some confusion on the delivery adress, had caused the delay.
After a fast ride on my bicycle(like i had a angry tribe of hovitos after me) i finally arrived at their goods delivery office 2 min before closing time..poooohhhh......

The Raiders of the lost jacket is now over......
