Joe Strain's Brother's Whip????

Post by Indiana Texas-girl »

Does Joe Strain have a brother that makes whips? If so, anyone own one? There was an ebay auction this last week that advertised a six foot JS whip but the seller said he was told sometime during the auction that it was Joe's brother that made it so the seller updated his auction as such. I've never heard mention of Joe Strain having a brother that made whips. So I'm rather curious on if anyone out there knows anything.

I'd post the link to the auction but that'd be breaking the ebay posting rules, even though the auction is over. If you want a link to it, send me an EMAIL.

Holly,

I've seen Joe's brother's whips on Ebay in the past. I've never used one so I can't say how good they are. They didn't appear to be as polished as Joe's(few are!) but they did appear from the pictures to be pretty well put together.

Jim, thanks for stepping up to answer my question. Do you know his first name? Do you know his seller's name on ebay?

Holly,

Joe's brothers name is CJ. I had emailed him a while back about one of his whips on auction.

could you send me the link to the auction that you were talking about?

Thanks,

Joe's brothers name is CJ.

That's cool,
I also remember seeing CJ's whips on ebay in the past,
I just presumed that he was selling his brother Joe's bullwhip,
live and learn :).

Hey ,
I wonder if Joe's brothers cousin's aunts uncle's niece's brother also makes whips.

Something to ponder no?

Just having fun.

I can probably answer many questions about my brother in a few words. There is not as much to this as you might think. CJ has made two whips and it was some time ago. I know both whips very well because we both used them in shows we did for SASS.

CJ is an engineer and sold probably five or six whips on ebay while in college. Two of them were his and the rest of them were mine. One was a nice 16 plait I made many years ago with a hitched knot that is really hard to miss. The rest of the whips he sold were cowhide whips I made while experimenting almost fifteen years ago. All of these whips are very unique and I could easily recognize them. That is why I contacted the seller of this particular whip last week when I saw it represented as one of mine.

Both of his whips are good whips. He did all of the work himself. All I did was trim a few pieces to maintain a proper shape to the whips.

CJ does not make whips and you won't see anymore auction items from him.

Joe, Let me say I'm glad you actually joined this board. This place is a great place for research and to have more members of the suppliers here for questions is outstanding.

So: Welcome!

It's also a good way to keep tabs on misinformation regarding yourself with so many potential customers.

Joe, thank you for posting in this thread regarding the whip in question and your brother...it's good to hear fromt the man himself. And here I had initially thought we might have a new whip maker on the horizon.
