New Indy Jacket

Post by OldGringo »

Just watched Indy 5 over and over.......new jacket seems to be cow or calfskin....seems light in thickness..Like a windbreaker jacket....not thick. You can really see it...when he is at the back of the boat....taking the wax of the tablet.....but the color....aside from there distressing the jacket....seems spot on with my Indy Dark Novapelle Wested jacket....which is thicker leather......of course......but same texture...And distresses just like his......not saying that is what it is....just saying......better if someone orders a jacket that they want to have like in the film....least the thicker leather will last longer...But...like I said here 20 years ago....your not buying a Indy jacket for Harrison Ford.....your buying the right Indy Jacket that suits you......Cheers :TOH:

Interesting observation. Did they ever state what material the jacket was made from? I could have sworn I heard it was cowhide, but I might be getting my jackets mixed up.

To be honest...have not heard yet.....was just trying to go by my old leather jacket business schooling....would love to know....but ...it does look like it.....then again....with new acid washes on hides......I have heard...they can make a goatskin...witch is pebbles to the touch....smooth like lambskin........tough to tell.....love to know really....Only thing that I do know....after the leather tanning process is done..(no more veg tanning....all chem tanning.....aside from Eastman leathers or Aero leathers ...etc..).........lamb....cow....goat..horse...hides......all distress different..that's why its called movie magic....with a little shoe polish if you like...or fake mud....proper lighting.....looks different.....And btw....forgot to say Castor....the novapelle is a cowhide...just treated leather.....not explaining that to you....others chiming in.......Cheers

I had a friend make a convincing argument that it was calfhide based on the looks of other jackets made of that material, but nothing has been confirmed to my knowledge.

I concur, there's no way that could be anything but lamb.
LC was cow I believe, but would be awesome as well in lamb.

Not so certain here on the LC jacket... I would swear it was in lamb, now cowhide, but heaven knows, I could be wrong on this! W>

Rauders, ToD, LC and DoD lambskin. KotCS cowhide. For sure.

I don't see how Wested's Last Crusade jacket can be cow. I have the Legacy version, and it is by far and hands down the lightest Indy jacket I have.

EDIT: Oh! I missread your post. Yeah, KotCS is surely cow...

Like I said, I was shooting in the dark with no amo.
Always thought CS was cow the way it was distressed.
