Looks nice for a general canvas bag, but not exactly faithful reproduction. Not with the additional two pouches at the back. Wonder why they did that. :-k

And I find the "for" section very funny, when they mention "fancy dress". :rolling: Maybe I am not trendy but a gas bag mask does not scream "fancy".

Cheers,

I wish someone would make a Indy bag that had some security features but still looked like something IJ would use. Like some kind of cut proof fabric and a cut proof strap. I'd like to use it for travel....🤔

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I always thought that "fancy dress" referred to a costume. Something to suit the wearer's fancy. For example, a fancy dress party was more akin to a masquerade, or a Halloween costume party...?

Today I learned. You are completely correct. English is not my native tongue so I always assumed "fancy dress" is another way of describing a "black tie event". :rolling:

Hmmm. I see what you are saying. What I don't get then is why not make it more screen accurate? Why the extra pockets?

I've not come across Silverman's before; what an odd shop- they seem to be a mix of a camping shop and military surplus?

For twenty quid I'll probably take a punt on that bag!

Well, we've all encountered the poem "The Chaos" and that expresses best some of the difficulties behind English.

Especially since they call it a faithful reproduction. :-k

That's a repro of a Mk VI gas mask bag - hence the rear pockets, two small D rings on the front sides and the '1940 pattern' stamp. You'd think an army surplus specialist like Silverman's would have spotted that?

The Mk VI rear pockets are actually really good for securely storing valuables so okay for the price but some of the fittings (bag strap clips) are the cheapest possible die cast ones you can get - weird bit of penny pinching.

Yeah, Silverman's popped up on the radar because they have the closest matching Pusser's grip hold all bag used in DoD.

Ah, ok, thank you for the explanation. I did not know the Mk VI! ](*,)

And, yeah, those bag stra fittings are the type that wear out in a year, if they don't break off, due to the bad pot metal. :(

I bought this and I like it. For £20 it's a nice little bag.

Years ago in England I bought a Mark Vi bag and I quite liked the back pockets. Gave you a place closer to your body where you could access without opening the main bag. I am with everyone on the cheap looking clips though. Do we know where this bag is made?

And now a Mk VI replica, we really have our pick now. I always enjoyed the configuration of the Mk VI bag as an alternative to the VII.

Is it known why the Mk VI was selected for the only closeup the bag ever really gets? My theory is production reached for a bag that looks more like the bags from WWI with the two small metal D rings on the face/seam, and thus looks of the 1935 era.
