Steele & Jones Cazadora '69 "Destiny Hero" Jacket

Post by Chose Poorly »

“I miss waking up every morning, wondering what wonderful adventure the new day will bring us.”
-John Rhys-Davies as Sallah

The release is so close I can smell it… or maybe that’s the intoxicating smell of leather coming from my Steele & Jones Cazadora ‘69 “Destiny Hero” jacket. What a phenomenal interpretation of the jacket we’ll see Indy wearing on his final adventure. A massive shout out to Diego on another masterpiece. The leather has so much character, the pattern is very accurate, the distressing is art, and the jacket truly feels like a legacy piece pulled out of the closet for one last hurrah.

I love the way my Destiny kit has come together, and I’m so excited to suit up for the premiere!

That is a piece of leather art work.
Your jacket is what made me pull the trigger on one from S&J as well.
I am so envious you’ll have yours for the premiere, the distressing is awesome, how does it drape?

I don’t look forward for cold weather, but seeing as mine is scheduled for September, ugh, come on September.

It looks crazy close to the Raiders truck jacket. Indiego, how do those two patterns compare?

Good eye!
Our '36 and '69 patterns are pretty similar.
I'd say like 90% close.
Cheers.-

Looking sharp! Diego is a master. Is the HJ a DoD style as well? It looks really nice.

Thanks for the compliments everybody!

To answer Croft, the drape is a bit different than what I’m used to from something like a lambskin Raiders, as this particular batch of limited leather is a stiffer and more structured lambskin. So I would call it a boxier fit, but if you get your measurements right, I would argue it is more flattering than a softer, accurately looser fitting Raiders jacket. However, I think the drape and overall fit are spot on for what we’ve seen so far for Destiny. And Diego had his inside sources to nail the correct hide, of course. It has also softened considerably from wear, seeing as I’ve had it on non-stop.

Dr. Jones Jr., it’s a fully custom HJ Poet with characteristics of all three original films. I played with the crown and brim shape a bit over the last year or so, and did the distressing to match the Dial of Destiny hat, so now it is MY DoD style Poet.

Baddates1, I never make videos, but seeing as I’m about to have a full week of Trent Ryan, Kirk Brackmann, and Daniel Riser, you may just get your wish!

Cheers all!

Thanks for the comments and photos, Chose Poorly. Guys, seeing the comparison of this S&J and the Wested: don't you think that Wested jacket is a crude replica of the Destiny? the S&J reproduces the smaller neck, the leather seems thinner and fits better, and what is most striking: the front pockets are proportioned, not like those of the Wested which are huge! Don't they realize the bad copy that the British have made? Or is it just my opinion...?

What are these inside sources to nail the correct hide?

I'm more curious to hear from Diego, now that I'm sure he's seen the the movie.
What if any changes to his future offerings on the DoD jacket.
And ya, I'll admit it, on my future DoD jacket from S&J.
Is it September yet. :CR:

I was going to start a new thread; glad I scrolled down.
Most of my pictures are in this thread.
https://www.indygear.com/cow/viewtopic.php?t=73789

But I wanted to try and take some pictures similar to Holts LS, but not even close.
But I'll keep trying, the grain on this in fantastic.

Here's couple of shots i took today.
Archimedes dial, credit goes to arcadeshenanigans, this is a prop I picked up from him, it's not 1/1, but closer in size to what he stuffs into the messenger bag.
I picked it up to try and distress/make it look like it's been around for 2,000 years. I'll start another thread when I start the project.

The jacket in question.

I look at Knibs awesome work and I'm trying to not go overboard, but I really want t=it to take on a light hue in the shoulder areas, it's what I see in the movie.
Thoughts, and the shoulder bag needs to be lengthen, the buckle is closer to center of my back and in the movie it's much lower. But I had one with the grooves. \:D/

I just reached out to Diego to start this process, and he gave me an estimated completion date of October 30th. Now, that was for a Cazadora '36, but I'd imagine the lead time is the same for all versions.

I got pictures of my Cazadora 69 this morning. I can’t wait to get it in hand. I’ll edit this post with more pics when I have it in hand! You eagle eyed guys will notice a few things that I had Diego change for me. I told him I wanted this to be my ultimate Indy jacket, and he was super gracious and accommodating (which isn’t news to any of us, but I’ll sing praises of his customer service any chance I get)!

Edit: Here are pics I took, I need to take some “action shots” but here y’all go! https://imgur.com/a/zDx2jZW
