Straw Indy ?

Post by joeyofarimathea »

Sometime back ( probably around KotCS) there was a lot of talk on one of the vendors producing a straw Raiders Fedora ( would it be called a Fedora or just a hat...lol?). Does anyone know which vendor made them and if you can still pitchase them?

Peter’s Brothers of Ft worth makes a decent Indy and have for decades. I guess it’s still in their catalog. :-k

Ok I must chime in here. I bought that Peters Bros hat and the experience was awful. Granted it was during the start of the pandemic but still bad. Size was way off what I asked for, that can happen, but the customer service left much to be desired. But the worst thing is the fedora looks like a stove pipe lid on me. I would say 1/2" - 1" too tall. Looks awful and I can't wear it. Looking for a way to turn into a prop on the wall with a knife thru it. That was my bad experience, perhaps others have done better.

Sorry to hear that was your experience.

I have an Indy straw from Peter Brothers since 2011. I wear it nearly exclusively through the late spring/summer months. Other than having to add some stiffener to the brim occasionally it’s held up famously.

Same here Jeff, but mine was made for me by Joe Sr. WAY back in the day and was the prototype, so maybe things have changed in shop. :-k

Heard back from PB, and they say they still make them, but have limited supplies at this time, and probably won’t have more material until next summer.

If interested, drop them a line and start a conversation.

Thanks for all the info. But does anyone know what the cost might be? And is it only in the dark brown or can they do it in traditional straw?

Nope. No clue. I’d say call/email them and see what they can do now.

Does anybody have a link to this Peter's Brothers straw Indy hat? I'm either a complete Luddite, or that is the most user UNfriendly site ever... :?

I know they’ve posted on FB that they were completely revamping their website recently, so it’s not you at all.

Calling them or emailing questions is the best route right now.
