I wish they were half the price to better match Wested and the sleeves weren't so long! Love these jackets' strength but just doesn't fit my body type.
Really jealous of that map lining!

They don't look very nice in the (quite weird) photos.

The Wested one looks nicer to me, and doesn't have that horrendous lining.

Though it’s not going to appeal to the cosplay crowd, I like it. It’s different, and where USWINGS made the jackets for Temple of Doom, they’ve had a real hand in the IJ film franchise for a LONG time.
Congratulations to getting the official license! Those aren’t just handed out by Disney, let alone LFL.

It definitely will have it's own special crowd who will be very comfortable with it, regardless of screen accuracy, etc. W>Michaelson wrote: ↑Mon Apr 10, 2023 6:08 pm Though it’s not going to appeal to the cosplay crowd, I like it. The pockets just look off to me. Especially near the scalloping.

I agree with Michaelson. This is not aimed at us Gearheads. I mean, what licensed product has EVER been that accurate. (Dorfman Pacific anyone?)
The only issue I have with it is price. Unless this is a made in the USA product (and it may be, US Wings has used Schott Leather to produce jackets in the past) I bought a dead on SA custom jacket for half that price.
Having said that, I've owned US Wings jackets and they were pretty awesome in their own way. I still have 2 of the youth cowhide models and I will be giving them to my grandkids (when I have some). And they will probably give them to their grandkids. They are WELL made.
Congrats to US Wings

From what I’ve heard, they’re all made by Schott.

Congratulations to Sarge and his team, this is richly deserved after so many years of work.
I agree with the comments here that these are aimed not at the gear heads but there is no question they are terrific.
I own three (soon to be four) Wing's jackets and they are incredibly hard working.

Re: US Wings is the official licensee for jackets
As I still have my fan club jacket from the 80's I can attest to these lasting. Though it doesn't see much wear time these days, it's still a sentimental favorite and thus far the only brand that has remained in the closet.
...though admittedly my S&J isn't going anywhere either.

Do they plan on releasing any other hide types? I purchased the vintage cowhide from them back in 2008 and the color was very orange.

I have the opposite problem!! I’ve tried to get Sargent to make me a regular jacket with long sleeves, too no avail.
At least it looks like the extra 2” body length is gone!!

Re: US Wings is the official licensee for jackets
Completely agree with the "these ain't for the gear head/stitch counters" among us, but they are very well made jackets--especially the ones that have come from the Schott factory, which I also understand these will be.
Personally, I have always thought the Wings jackets had more of a Last Crusade vibe going for them. And I think the scalloping on the pocket flaps is very interesting...also kind of gives off a LC vibe to me.
This has been a long time coming, too...as Michaelson said, Disney/LFL doesn't just hand out these licenses.
Congratulations to Sarge and Co.!
Cheers!

Re: US Wings is the official licensee for jackets
Congrats to US Wings! They have a great selection and good products. That being said though, I have bought two US Wings Indy jackets over the years and I sold the first one and sent the second one back. For some reason, not what I was expecting. But this will appeal to many people wanting an officially licensed jacket.

And I even forgot to say this is awesome news. And you know what would be even more awesome? If Disney partnered with Akubra.

My first Indy Jacket back in 2012 was a U.S. wings and it's held up to this day. Not the most screen-accurate jacket, but an absolute tank and I'm glad the business is going to them - I've never had a bad thing to say about them whatsoever.

Re: US Wings is the official licensee for jackets
Well it makes sense given the long association with Disney and the stunt show. But I'm not sure what the market is for $700 jackets among the general public. And unfortunately I guess USW had to remove their regular branded Indy jackets from the lineup for the time being.

Thanks, Indydawg.
That reminds me of when I first went to the Queen Mary summit in 2005 and we went to Disneyland. I was in the Indy store and I remember seeing a woman with her son and she took a glance at the Dorfman fedora's on the shelf and then she looked at my Akubra, turned to her son and said "come on I'm taking you to a real hat shop".

Congrats to Sarge and US Wings. I'm glad I already own a few as that price is way too much for . I hope they find success with it and someday we get some better prices.
It's an exciting time to be an Indy fan again.

What I find really interesting is that Indy-inspired Cape Buffalo A-2 jacket that they have listed. I wouldn't mind one of those!
Of course, it probably is just their regular A-2 and all you are paying for is the Indy lining on the inside...but it still is a cool jacket...

Re: US Wings is the official licensee for jackets
Has any one here bought one? I suspect the amount of perfectly screen accurate jackets we have access to in 2023 makes that a little more unlikely, but I'd still be interested to see the jacket in person on someone here...Size wise, I've always had issues with US Wings, but the leather selection they've had over the years is interesting to see...

No one yet, far as I know, since they’re not available until June 30th.
Totally agreed on hides they find and use in small runs.
One of the mentioned hides is patina mountain goat which sounds interesting.

Ahh, sorry, I thought they were available now but just hadn't shipped out just yet! I see, I see...
And yeah, they do get some interesting skins...I remember being amazed at the bison selections a few years back...Absolutely stunning depth of colour and texture to it....Size wise, I guess they're made for a certain market, but that aside, I'm interested in seeing what they manage to find for these jackets once they're on sale!

I do like the adventure bag w/ Indy's name on it at least, lol.
Re: US Wings is the official licensee for jackets
..did anybody here order this jacket, maybe even received it already? I ordered mine on May 1st, but no jacket so far (I'm located in Europe), just the order confirmation. I asked them twice about a status, but no answer. The statement on their website changed from "shipping in May" to "shipping in June" recently. I have no idea what's happening here, last time I made business with US Wings was approx 15 years ago when I bought my cowhide IJ3 jacket, which was an absolutely superb experience back then.

Re: US Wings is the official licensee for jackets
So does anyone actually have a US Wings DoD that they wouldn't mind sharing photos of? I can't be the only one that's curious how this turned out...
P.s. for folks thinking of buying one, I noticed that it is cheaper to buy the DoD jacket, hat, bag combo deal than it is to buy the DoD jacket alone by close to around 100 bucks. Must be a mistake, so I'd strike now if you're interested.
