The fabric (see link above) that holds the " O ring" is finally coming loose ( after 20+ years of service). Thus Im wondering what is the preferred method of repair? What is the closest fabric recommended? Any and all help is appreciated.

2 of mine have done the same in the past too, I used string and a leather-work needle to sew it back into place.

If you have a Joanne’s fabric store handy,
You can also try an upholstery needle and
Upholstery thread. That stuff is pretty strong.

You're fortunate that it is the webbing pulling away from the bag and not the webbing itself failing. As has already been said, it's a fairly easy sewing fix.
If the material of the bag is getting too worn you can place a piece of canvas inside the bag to reinforce that area.

Hello again....upon closer inspection on the other side the webbing is starting to give way....in this case which is the best fabric to replace the OG webbing that's wearing out? Any help is appreciated...
