Holt's crusade jacket

Post by Holt »

Hey guys. I finally did it. I recreated the Last Crusade jacket. Now this was a task to say the least! Hitting a Legacy wested with sandpaper is not nearly enough to recreate something you love to see on screen. Yes the skin is identical to the real crusade jacket but the weathering process requires more than dish scrubs or sandpaper. In my opinion, hitting the legacy crusade jacket with sandppaer only creats a harsh contrast between the aging and the new lambskin. You have to go slow and very gentle to create natural look. Not saying that the crusade jacket has natural weathering, dont get me wrong  but you get the idea.

I used, sandpaper, knife, steel brush, acetone, creams, water, scrubs and chemicals. :H:

The weathering on the original jacket is done in steps, some spots are very light, some are hard, some are cut deep. I also chemically aged the buttons to a natural oxidaded look.

Im very happy how it came out. I finally have what I see in the film. I used the Chicago jacket as a guideline for the look as this is my favorite crusade jacket. The one he wears during the zeppling scene while they talk over the Grail diary. 8)

Hopefully it turns out as good on your screen as it does on mine.
Enjoy :TOH:

That beauty looks spot on, Holt! :TOH:

Which skin/jacket is that? I've purchased a number of jackets over the years attempting to get the exact LC look, from Westeds to BKs to S&Js. So far, I think my S&J is closest.

Great job, man! All looks good, but somehow the snap looks the best, really naturally aged. :TOH:

Great work, Holt! Are all the undertones true or did you have to do some dye work?

All undertones! No dyes. Just alot of weathering to make it come out right.
