I finally got to wear an Indy hat in a suitably adventurous environment - namely on a tour through Botswanna and Zimbabwe! The hat is a Steele and Jones Raiders that I got second hand here in the Cairo Bazaar a year or two ago. The jacket is a veeery old Todds (first batch maybe?) with all natural distressing. The hat was pretty worn in and a bit bit mis-shapen anyway, but after three weeks in Africa (and being stuffed into overhead lockers) it has developed a unique character, some great sweat stains and is covered in genuine desert dust and sand. No way I could ever part with this hat or jacket now - they may get retired, but never sold.
What I like about these photos is that they are just holiday snaps, - I wasn't even thinking about the 'gear', I was just wearing it -and I love how it looks!
Thanks! Just realised, I had the same hat and jacket (those that know me know I've been though quite a few!!!) when I visited the sites of ancient Greece a couple of years ago. Definitely, irreplaceable!
Such an amazing experience, sounds like a great time! Have to ask, how often did you catch your silhouette in shadow and hear the theme song? Also, did you find the hat to be good in all the heat?
