Drop your oldest leather jacket pictures, please.

I’d love to see some vintage jackets especially from the 80s. It would be very neat to see how they’ve changed over time.

The only Indy style jacket available in the 80s was made by Wested. Lee Kepler was the connection I had at the time and the biggest difference was the side straps were built into the side seam of the back panel, rather than attached to the surface like the original. The hide was a bit different, pretty dark and a little thicker than the current stock they use, with slightly more texture. Through the years Wested played around with pocket size, flap shape, collar size and shape, yoke size… All to say I don’t think there is a linear progression in change over time. Things went back and forth depending on fan tastes. Gradually as vcr tapes, dvds were available the details were better defined and some of the members here helped bring the jackets closer to accurate.

We now benefit from the years of adjustment and some brilliant makers that have stepped in over the years. :TOH:

…sorry, no pics handy

I'd post my "oldest" jacket. But it is only three or four years old and made of horsehide... It seems horsehide will only be weathered in about 200 years... ](*,)

Not entirely true. There was also the "fan club" jacket/Disney jacket. Lee offered those as well. I have pics of mine. The label long ago fell off, but it's still a fun one to pull out now and again. I'll have to grab some pics.

Forgot about those… with the grainy heavy weight lambskin. Those didn’t come out until the late 80s, but you’re right.

What contract is that, Mulceber? An absolute honey of an original. I was thinking maybe a Roughwear 1401-P?

Monarch, actually. Although I've seen Rough Wears with similar coloring. :TOH:
