Post by GoldenHistorian »

Hey guys,
I haven't posted in a while but im curious. Is there anyone who produces a raiders style jacket that excludes the dropped shoulders?

Many thanks!

Steele and Jones are pretty great when it comes to custom requests like that.

All of our jackets are completely made-to-measure and made-to-order, so we can do it anyway you like:

Steele & Jones can do whatever you need. I’m getting an LC from them and they’ve been nothing but helpful in the process.

Here here! Steele & Jones are wonderful. Roberto said recently that he's offering a new service where, if you're really concerned about getting the perfect fix, he will send you a mock up jacket in the mail made of denim to try out before he makes the actual jacket out of leather. That way you can try it on with their proposed dimensions and make any tweaks before you get the finished product. I think this service costs an extra $65 USD (that includes shipping). Whether you use this or not, they're fantastic to work with and are really helpful with getting what you want.

I have owned a number of Jackets

The Wings are tough as nails albeit not great on accuracy, I was bitterly disappointed with my Wested and my Magnoli's all fit me perfectly and are great jackets.

The S&J jackets I have the pleasure of owning are for me the gold standard.

Best of luck

While I’d consider a Steel and Jones myself, as your in England, have you considered Wested? Just give them the measurements you want.

I believe Wested's standard (non-Legacy/Hero) Raiders jackets come without the dropped shoulders as well - with only their Hero and the Legacy Hero incorporating intentionally wider shoulder seams.

Unfortunately, I haven't gotten my hands an a S&J.
However, I have owned several Magnoli jackets, all with custom requests and measurements, including a "real world fit." He did a great job. So far, I have not found their equal.
My experience with Wested is that they are very hit-or-miss with custom requests, but that was quite a few years ago.

My first Indy jacket is a Wested from 2000. At the time the only thing I specified was sleeve length. That was long before I joined COW. Once here, I read a lot about the "ill fitting" Indy jacket and didn't understand the "off the shoulder" comments being made. My Wested fits like a regular jacket. It wasn't until I got a G&B Expo years later that I fully understood the fit being described.

Wested Leather, :-k hmm..according to their sizechart with measurements of the jackets fit; Wested Co. has the droopy shoulder, in standard fit but I may be wrong!
Check it first if you´re in business of ordering from them. :-s

Have to admit, I’ve purchased and owned literally dozens of Wested jackets since 1997 and every one if them hung off my shoulders. Other than custom, USWings jackets always fit me correctly through the shoulders. :-k
