Re: MY FEDORAS AND YET I WANT ANOTHER
Oh, sorry, I think I miss read! If I’m not mistaken the right hand side of the SOC hat is slightly taller and straighter than the left hand side, likely a result of the turn- just like the slight zig-zag of the center dent on top. In other words, the hat wasn’t originally blocked with the turn so when they did that there was less crown on the left hand side making it a little shorter and slightly more tapered, wear-as the felt on top was trying to center itself back to the way it was originally intended. So when he bumps up the right hand side slightly on a non turned hat it recreates that asymmetry of the crown a little.

Well I don’t know about taller, but here’s how I see it.
On the SoC hat with a turn, the bow is forward of the ear.
On mine it’s in the regular location as if were on a hat with no turn.
But if you look on his site at the the standard SoC he sells, two things stood out that makes this style beloved.
On the non bow side just above the ribbon there’s a slight hump/bump as well as noticeable crease like in the bash area.
I believe there’s a whole thread on this subject.
I will try to take some better straight on shots tomorrow.
And thanks for the compliments everyone, I’m really enjoying the look of this lid.

As promised.
The first pic I took with the sun behind me, and it shows the hump I was referring to, the sun does wash out some because I don't think it's that noticeable.
Then with one showing the dent in the front bash.
Then some others for just so you can see the beautiful color of this hat in old sable.
And something Thomas said about my color choice as I did have another in mind.

PS, this is my Truck Chase from S&J

Furthermore the new sable turned out to be lighter after blocking and sanding and I would withdraw my recommendation and say "old-Sable" would be more screen accurate for a Streets of Cairo Fedora

Thanks for the pictures. That first one really shows what I hadn’t noticed before. The rest showcase what an absolutely beautiful hat it is.
You know I was going to ask that about your jacket You mentioned it had a tear repaired. How did that go, in terms of ‘invisibility’?

Tare was on the inside, I had her sew in the material to help keep the pleats closed, it’s better than it was.
May ponder in the future another Truck Chase, but need to discuss the pleats.
It’s the one thing that always bugs me on my jacket, I want them to lay flat.
But not derail my own thread, thanks for the kind words, this hat is amazing.

Really nice gear!
So the hat is old sable, right?
Did he recommend sable and you went with old sable?
I’m in the process of ordering a SOC now!
Thanks for sharing the pics!

Re: MY FEDORAS AND YET I WANT ANOTHER
Yes the sable he had was actually going to be called new sable, but it turned out to light as it says in the quote from Thomas, and he new I wanted a SoC look, the felt is new and still dark when not in the sunlight, so when this breaks in this summer, I’m hoping for nice lookin lid.
But ya I went old sable at his recommendation, he knows best.
And your welcome, I love showing off pictures of our vendors wares in hope that it helps other in choosing there hat or jacket or gloves or holster or MKVII bag or bag strap or shirt, you get it.
