Vintage US Wings jacket & news from Sarge on striated lamb

Post by Kokopelli »

I bought a used Wings Indy jacket, from the measurements it’s one of the older ‘pre-lengthening’ versions… does anyone know if the jackets can be ‘deciphered’ based on the label?
I’ll email them tomorrow but thought maybe someone here may know.

I believe that is one of their jackets that was outsourced to overseas production. Weird, given their name is US Wings and there is an American flag on the logo, but that is how they offered a cheaper line of jackets.

Yeah they actually had a lot of them made overseas… I’ve had several. I’m very curious to see what this one is- I’m thinking it may be goatskin based on the pictures.

Straight from the horse’s mouth:

Hello Ron,
The Indy Jacket in question came from our Signature Series about 20 years ago and Hand Made by Roz Schott the legal business partner of US Wings ® Inc.
Regards,
Sarge

I should have the jacket in hand today and will report back.

He also added: Ron do you remember we had the 2.7 weight of the Striated Lamb.. We will release that leather again the 15th of Nov.2021 after being set aside for over 20 years.

Edit: got it! It is buttery soft…chocolate brown color. I’ll try to get some pics of it outside here later…my first impression is this is a dead ringer for the Cooper Disney jackets. I’ll grab mine out of the closet and compare them. - nope…not the same except color…

Here it is outside, right out of the box. It will get a shower tomorrow, and I’ll shape the collar and try to get some wrinkles in the sleeves. The leather is very, very soft but dry. I’ll run it down with Pecard lotion when it dries from its bath… some interesting construction features- hand warmer pockets are on the ‘outside’ of the jacket, and not in the lining, ‘V’ stitching on one side of strap, collar-to-storm flap meeting…

Well, I stand corrected!

Funny, I was sure that was one of the imported Legend pattern jackets from about 10 years ago. The buckle, v-stitch on the strap attachment, gap between the yoke and sleeve seam, label, leather all resemble one of those Legend jackets. :-k

You, my friend, are correct I do believe…I looked everywhere in/on it for other tags, and then lifted up the ‘L’ size tag and there I it was- MADE IN PAKISTAN.
I was thinking it felt familiar; I had one of these back then that got sold off…
