Call me crazy if you must...
I have an 8 foot Joe Strain that I got in 2008. I haven't cracked it much. Just mostly for cosplay. If I could go back in time, I would've gotten a 10 foot, for the fuller look when coiled on the belt.
With all due respect to the talented craftsmen... may I ask:
How does the Strain compare to a DelCarpio? And if I were to *choke* sell or trade the Strain, would it come close to the cost of a 10 foot DelCarpio?

Personally, if I had a Strain whip made around the time of CS, I would hang onto it. Though I prefer an 8' whip, even for cosplay.
I don't know about resale, but I think you would be hard pressed to get upwards of $900 for it to buy a DelCarpio.

Del Carpio's whips are more close to Morgan's whips - the are heavier and plaited a bit more loosely. Strain plaits his whips supertightly, so it takes a while to break them in.
Whips from both makers are great. But for more screen accuracy, I'd go with Del Carpio. Or Nolan's 1936 whip

Didn't Joe Strain make them for Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, though?
I like how his KOTCS ones look darker, so I was kind of leaning that way.
Now I don't know what to do...

Strain made some whips for KOTCS that were never seen onscreen. Most onscreen whips were by Terry Jacka. Morgan made the 16 foot swinging whip though.
