whats the best whip to get? see more inside...

Post by Indiana Jackson »

I only want to spend around $300 US for one.

1. Whats the best bang for buck?
2. Whats the best length? (my first whip & probably last. gotta get it right the 1st time.)
3. Whats the best plait? (i was considering 12) How big is a difference between 12 & 16 plait?

I was considering a dukewhips indy 8ft 12 plait. the David Morgans are out of my price range.
How long does it take to get a dukewhip after ordering it or from any vendor for that matter?

What are other good vendors for this price range?

Feedback appreciated!

Thanks. :D :!:

I would go with an 8 foot, 12 plait whip to start out with. Duke makes an excellent whip, as well as Joe Strain, Paul Stenhouse and Jerry Rasmussen, and newest member Adam Winrich. I'm a whipmaker too but I'm not taking any new orders for the time being. But you won't be disappointed with a whip from any of the whipmakers I mentioned above.

Best length: 8 foot - first whip & probably last whip? I doubt it :))
Best plait: 12
I don't see that much difference with 16 plait. I've been making several 16 plait Indy bullwhips in the last month. I am in process of plaiting a 16 plait 10 ft BLACK Indy bullwhip. That's different!!

Right now, I have back orders down to 3 to 4 weeks.

Thanks Robert! You're right...it probably won't be the last. I guess I was only trying to make a point in the fact that I didn't want just a starter whip, but rather one that was a good whip to last a long time. Like your Indy whip.

What do most of you practice cracking your whip at?

air?
trees?
shrubs?
grass?
etc????

Any sites that give proper cracking techniques?
urls?

Thanks! :D

Hmmm, the trees and shrubs in front on mmarosys house...
and pizza delivery men (same location!) :D

At home, in my backyard, I aim for bushy types of fir trees and hang things off the clothes line.
And then, of course, when the kids get out of hand... Moving Targets!

He really is not joking. I was there. They probably put Mike's address on the list of places that they no longer deliver to. Hey, Mike, you wanna order a pizza?
