Got a chance to break in some of my gear!
Went camping this weekend and brought pretty much everything I have to start the process of natural weathering.
Fedora- Akubra Federation Deluxe
Shirt- WPG
Gloves (New addition)- Wells Lamont
Satchel- Original with WPG strap
Boots- Wested Boots
Whip- Magnoli Clothiers Deluxe
It’s been quite the process breaking in the Wested boots. I can tell that as another member mentioned, the seam on the back digs in. I’ve had them about a month now and I still get a bit of a sore heel from them. But they are slowly coming around to my feet and they have not come off since I got them.

Sounds like fun, did you get any cracking in while you were there?

Sure did! I recently replaced the fall with a David Morgan white hide fall, but apparently I didn’t put the cracker on securely enough. I got a few good cracks in before it flew off into the woods.IJJTM wrote:Sounds like fun, did you get any cracking in while you were there?

If you followed a proper technique to put on the popper it might not be that it came off...
I had a lot of issues a while ago with the tip of the fall breaking where the knot of the popper was.... I solved with with intensive applications of Pecard's to the fall (before and after cracking sessions)... I got so angry, was running through crackers and I was running out of the fall too...

That’s a good point. The fall is a David Morgan white hide fall. I went with the thinner of the two options. I applied a lot of pecards to it when I first received it. Now I’m on the hunt for the proper materials to create my own poppers.bearbeast wrote:If you followed a proper technique to put on the popper it might not be that it came off...

Regarding the putting on the popper.
There’s a sticky on the whip section.

Looks like you had a blast, agary. Keep us posted on the boots.

I’m wearing them right now actually! They are a bit too big which is still causing a bit of rubbing on the heel. I was originally just using the bottom two speed fasteners like Indy does, but I have started trying to use all of the speed fasteners and tighten the top snugly which seems to have alleviate the rubbing quite a bit. I would say the boots are pretty much completely broken in at this point as I have spent 8+ hour days in the woods wearing them and I’m still able to wear them at the end of the day.Cajunkraut wrote:Looks like you had a blast, agary.
