Fair point. I don't have a ton of space to hang dry stuff, but I guess a hanger on a shower curtain rod is as good as a line outside!backstagejack wrote:IMHO If I care about a shirt at all it doesn't touch the dryer. Even my T-shirts get hung dry because you never know what damage a dryer can do aside from just shrinkage. I personally wouldn't put an Indy shirt I own from Wested to Azuma to Magnoli in the dryer. To me even the cheapest Indy shirt cost too much for that.

I wash mine cold water, then hang dry.
Now Azuma's shirts that fit me best are 17, but not offered (yet ) so I get 17.5, there a little big, so I cold wash, dry on as highest heat on the dryer, back in for another cold wash then hang dry.
IM never see a drier as they shrink, and then, well to short in the sleeves. everywhere else Is fine though.
IM shirt (custom) is sweet, love the color and the way it wrinkles.
I've been wearing an Indy shirt for the last month or more (yes I have that many ) and know one at work say's anything, I don't think they even realize it. Hey if they can wear BLUE jeans every day, I can wear a KAHKI shirt every day.

Well, it's already been said, but from the horse's mouth as well: COLD wash and LINE dry. Heat begets shrinkage and a tumbler just adds extra wear.

Good to know! At some point I may snag one of the white label versions so I have an excuse to wear more Indy shirts (do we really need an excuse though?), and if/when that happens, I’ll keep it out of that pesky dryer.Indy Magnoli wrote:Well, it's already been said, but from the horse's mouth as well: COLD wash and LINE dry. I just picked one of these up, and after washing it twice, the collar, cuffs, and pocket flaps are still pretty stiff. They actually crinkle when you bend them. It might be a case of washing it several times, but after two washes, it's not quite there yet. I noticed the buttons are also a little bigger than on the custom shirt, which makes them a little difficult to push through the button holes, especially on the stiff cuffs.Indy Magnoli wrote:Our ready made shirts gets nice, soft and wrinkly after a wash or two. I've been wearing mine plenty and it's as soft as you'd want it.
Is it the same fabric as the custom shirt? This one that I got is a few shades lighter (which I don't mind), so I'm wondering if it's just a difference in fabric and that this ready made shirt is just sturdier. My custom shirt softened right up after one wash!

These will definitely soften up, mine did. And yes, the fabric is different (these are made in two different shops). Regardless, we're actually updating the design so the next run will have completely soft collar and cuffs. In the meantime, these do break in fine... they just need a bit of adventuring to get them going.

That's going to be a great update! Meanwhile, back in the wash goes my "formal" adventure shirt.Indy Magnoli wrote:These will definitely soften up, mine did. Let me know when the new run is in, as I love to try one. Gotta keep my collection going.
And when ordering IM, would I just put in the notes "NO FUSING"

You can order any time, just put a note in the comments section that you want a shirt from the new run and we'll put your order on backorder until that one is ready to ship. I'll post as well when the new run is ready.

Came through the wash/dry cycle with nary a wrinkle. Glad I bought a bunch of those over the past few years...
They are great shirts. I have one still in the original wrapper size medium. If that is of interest to you, message me soon. I am considering putting it up for sale.

Well Orl, he has a thread in the Empourium, but you’ll have to reach out to him and see if he has your size that was canceled by someone, as this was a limited run.
he’s already sent out some of the smaller sizes, and more to come in the early 2021.
Good luck as Azusa is my go to shirt all most daily.

Re: Indy Shirt - Best option these days
Just received my first Wested Indy shirt. Looks good - generous sizing in the chest which is good for me as I need the room!
I do have an original unworn Noel Howard shirt that I bought shortly before he passed away. It always seemed like something I could never replace, so have been saving it for a full Indy look (I generally just wear one or two bits of gear at a time). If anyone is interested in comparison pics, let me know. They are different sizes, though.

Well I for one would love to see, specially the new Wested offering as they are different from mine which I've had for about 10 yrs +/-
May I ask your chest measurement and what size you ordered?
My chest is 41/42 and I'm 5'5"
Croft
Oh and I have a Noel Howard to, and I never wear it unless I'm doing a full gear shot.

I’m about 5’ 10.5” and have a 47” chest (expanded). Sadly about 16 stone... I usually buy a 46” or 48” sports jacket and coat and a 17.5 or 17 (UK) collar sized shirt. My Wested Raiders jacket (must be about 14 years old) is a 48” and I wear a 46” in an Aero Hercules and Teamster.
I’ve only tried it on briefly, but the shirt is an XL, seems fine in length (back and sleeves) and very generous about chest and belly, and a good fit on the shoulders. So, it’s a loose fit on me, but a large might be a bit short in the arms and back if they run smaller (not sure if they do or not). If I wanted a fitted look (which I don’t), I’d try the large for sure. I think the measurements on their website seem accurate.
I’ll try and take some pics for colour and materials differences. I should also say, I ordered this on Saturday (Boxing Day) and it was despatched over the weekend/Monday and arrived today. Not bad for Christmas week! I was very impressed with the speedy service.
Re: Indy Shirt - Best option these days
I would like to have a Noel Howard shirt but my chest is 43’’ and his shirt would be too big for me.
I have a Wested shirt from the first generation and I would like to see the difference with a recent one.

Re: Indy Shirt - Best option these days
Well I'm not hiding anything when I say I'm a huge Azuma fan.
He had a 2020 run which is closed, and the shirts were being shipped as they were made to a specific size.
I bought two size 17 (in the past 17.5 was all he offered) so I'm stoked to get these.
Here's the thing. Azumas attention to detail is mind blowing.
Size 17 & 17. were done and ready for pick just prior to Christmas.
But he noticed something that most of us may never have known.
The stitching on the buttons on a Raiders shirt is parallel, not crossed like ToD/LC
The shirts were wrong
So back to the tailor they went and will probably be ready for delivery when the next batch is ready
I have plenty of shirts, so I can be patient.
Here's a email he sent me (and yes I got the ok)
I only wish he'd get the contract for the next movie.
I'm in for two

Dear Raiders,
Happy 2021, and sorry for the late update on the Raiders shirt 3rd run. Size 16 and 17 were actually done two weeks before Christmas, and since I tried to avoid Christmas mailing traffic (had problems before with USPS), I pick them up after Christmas, and was planning to ship them out after New Year Holidays, however, when I visit the studio, I noticed a problem with the shirts. They somehow sew the button in a different way. The threads on the button on Raiders shirt should be sewn paralleled, but they did it crossed like TOD/LC instead, so I had to ask them re do it. Since they did not give me a timeline for that, I assume they will probably fix it with the next batch of shirt. I am sorry for the delay, but it is all for the better result. Will keep you updated as soon as I have news on the shirts.
Best regards,
Azuma
I only wish he'd get the contract for the next movie.

Re: Indy Shirt - Best option these days
Took couple pics of the 2021 Azuma run, which technically is the tail end of the 2020 run. (there was no 2021 run)(yet )
Ordered in 2020, but just got my two size 17 last week, and I hoping he keeps the size in all his runs as 17 fits me better in the chest.
Pic's I took this morning, so sorry it's not more in depth photo shoot, warm/hot weather is coming.
With my S&J truck chase jacket.
And with military scarf I feel is Indyish.
Azuma once again hit it out of the park, material and fit are perfect.
Big fan of his work.

Thank you Madam.
My closet is starting to get over run.
I buy two, but store one nice I ruin the shirt some how.
Did I mention that i love his work and his attention to details.
Wish he’d get the nod for making the shirts for the next movie.

Re: Indy Shirt - Best option these days
So I am still looking around for a shirt and am deciding between magnoli clothiers & azuma. The main concern I have is that my chest size is 34". When looking at the shirts, are they sized per the exact chest measurements or a size above. I was just talking with Azuma and he only can do a minimum of a size 36" chest. I most likely have to go with magnoli clothiers since they offer custom tailoring at any size. Thoughts?

Re: Indy Shirt - Best option these days
It's not a perfect replica or anything but I picked up a Tilleys Endurables from eBay for only £20 this week and it's a beautiful quality shirt: actually made for the outdoors. I have a Wested which is obviously more accurate Indy in look, but quality-wise isn't anywhere near and feels like a costume piece rather than a real shirt next to the Tilleys.
Interestingly I'm a 40inch chest, 5'11" man and got the Small in the Tilleys which fits perfectly (in the UK I'm usually a medium for everything). The Wested is a Small too but feels way too big.
