Todd's Costumes Restocking S&W Bapty
Todd has pre-orders open for the soft air revolver he offered for a short time years ago.

Re: Todd's Costumes Restocking S&W Bapty
I had the British Officer version of the Tanaka S&W a while back. While it's nice very looking, the very low weight was a deal breaker for me. Too much like a toy. It was about 1 pound without the cartridges.

I think the gun he's offering is a plug fire cap gun and not an airsoft.

Neat. Can't import that so must try my local PFC specialist.

For any EU Indy fans, I got my M1917 Tanaka from 'mg-props' in the UK. Nice, supportive staff, but as I mentioned, the replica was just too lightweight for me...

Re: Todd's Costumes Restocking S&W Bapty
Todd’s preorder was filled earlier today. I had been getting the money together and had it in my cart when I missed the boat. I emailed Todd and he has reopened the preorder for one final crate. He needs 12 orders to get it in. I have already placed one. If you’re thinking about one yourself, this is your very last chance. He will not stock anymore after this. I personally would like a real version but I’m not about to take a real gun to comic-con or a costume party so this is the next best thing. If you feel the same, make sure to order now.

I ordered one so that’s another.

Re: Todd's Costumes Restocking S&W Bapty
Can anyone explain to me - why did the price jump from $195 to $449.95? Also, some of the photos show an orange tip on the barrel, and some appear all black. Which is accurate for a customer in the US? Thanks
Re: Todd's Costumes Restocking S&W Bapty
The version Todd sold a few years ago was with a 'steel' finish and (as other folks have mentioned in this thread) was lighter weight which made it feel like a toy to some customers.schwammy wrote:Can anyone explain to me - why did the price jump from $195 to $449.95? The version that Todd is offering now is Jupiter Finish - the closest you can get to a true gun metal look. To accomplish this finish the guns requires extra metal plating which make them heavier as well (closest you an get to the FEEL of a real gun too). This higher quality finish makes the gun more expensive, and also I believe Todd is ordering in much smaller batches than he did before which also makes the guns pricier per unit.
These guns will arrive with an orange tip as required by law. However, because of the high-quality metal finishing, you will be able to use 'orange tip' paint remover to get rid of the orange tip yourself without damaging the gun.
Hope this helps!
Re: Todd's Costumes Restocking S&W Bapty
The other reason for the price jump in this order is that initially Todd was offering 2 models:
- the ABS finish, which was significantly cheaper, lighter, and couldn't have the orange tip removed without damage (still pictured on his website)
and then the Jupiter Finish (heavier, stronger, about $200 more expensive).
So the other reason for the price jump in the last few months is that it looks like Todd isn't offering the cheaper ABS version anymore, so the only option is to shell out for model that's heavier duty.

Re: Todd's Costumes Restocking S&W Bapty
I understand the need for the extra cost, but that pushes this way outside my price range. It was going to be a stretch for the less expensive version.

####, you can get a deactivated Webley for close to that sum... and that would be quite awesome enough I would say...Indiana Jeff wrote:I understand the need for the extra cost, but that pushes this way outside my price range. It was going to be a stretch for the less expensive version.

Re: Todd's Costumes Restocking S&W Bapty
When did you order? My understanding is Todd bought just enough to fill pre-orders. His site doesn’t have them for sale. You can submit your email to be notified when he decides to order again.

Re: Todd's Costumes Restocking S&W Bapty
I had signed up for notifications last time. Received an email the other day that they were back in stock. Checked the site Friday & they didn't seem to be available, so I'm not sure.
I manged to obtain one from the earlier runs in the meantime, so I'm good.

Maybe I just got lucky and he found one in the back room somewhere? Not sure.
