Very close Stembridge lookalike just been sold in the UK

Someone has been very lucky to pick up this original M1917, British issued with a factory fitted short barrel. Found this as a result of a random search, and couldn't believe what I was seeing.

Deactivated, as it has to be to be sold in the UK nowadays.

Great set of markings. I especially like the "crow's feet" mark, as the opposite of a broad arrow, showing official de-accessioning. This piece led an interesting life.
