Wested Raiders Fit

Post by LostRaider25 »

Hi guys! Random question.
I currently own a custom Raiders from wested which fits great, been wearing it for a month already (goatskin). So far it has wrinkles around. Sleeves shortened in a good way from the wear. I only noticed now though that if I zip it all the way up it gets really snug at the chest area. It has (stretch?) lines at the sides if you get what I mean. Tried putting my chest out and my arms all the way back and that’s when it gets tight. Just wanted to know if this is normal.

Have a great day! Thanks in advance :TOH:

It is normal for it to be tight on the chest when zipped all the way. All of my indy jackets fit that way. It’s a particular idiosyncrasy of these jackets. I can’t remember exactly why, but more knowledgable folk here will be able to explain it.

I've had a Wested LC and a G&B Expo - not of them were tight or snug. But maybe one person's 'tight' is another's less experienced 'fitted'. What do you mean by tight - hard to zip up, constructing?

“Tight” meaning it’s much more snug within the chest area. I could see some stretch lines at the side of the jacket when I move around with it all the way zipped. Probably it’s just fitted. Just felt it now since it’s been a month I actually zipped it all the way ans moved around. Usually it’s just open. It’s not hard to zip up though, smooth as butter. It’s just when it’s zipped up or zipped More than halfway I feel the snugness. Will try to post some pics soon.

Here are some pics

Jacket all the way zipped with my chest out and arms back: https://m.imgur.com/LaUfH94" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

The lines I’m talking about are seen on the third picture. The snugness on the chest

the one I currently have is a custom standard, not the hero version. Wanting to have a hero though.

So probably this is more screen accurate then with the fit

For custom Raider jackets, I always get them fitted like a sports coat fit in the chest. Off the rack, I end up ordering my sport coat size or one up for a looser fit. I cannot order my chest size due to my height and shoulder and upper arm size. At my age, do not want tight fitting clothing....lol Have never been fat but am not skinny. The more form fitting ones I have are the BK ones which are slightly snug in the upper arm openings.

I see. I only feel the snugness ones it’s zipped all the way. I could wear
another layer before wearing the jacket itself. Probably I’m not used to it since I always wear the jacket open.

Looks fine to me although you are standing in a very strange way in that last shot. Do you have any experience owning a leather jacket before this? Maybe it's just this.

Testing the size is simple if you can do the zip up without straining, it fits. Creases are normal.

I just placed my arms back to show creases when there's movement. Was used to it open so when I tried moving around when it was closed I felt it was more snug. Probably it is normal and I'm not used to it. Zipping wise though, I have no struggle. Zips up smoothly.

It's my first custom leather jacket. Really happy to have it, breaking it in already so it's quite comfortable and less stiff as I got it.
