BRIM DEMENSION'S QUESTIONS

Post by Indiana Croft »

Hey all, I just tried doing a search using "brim" and dimensions and didn't find what I wanted.

I know the Raiders dimensions, saw them on Indy Gear front page on the Fedora.
RAIDERS
Crown: 5 ½ (5.5) inches
Brim (front & back): 2 ¾ (2.75) inches
Brim (sides): 2 5/8 (2.625) inches
Ribbon: 1 ½ (1.5) inches (39mm)

What I want are the same, but on the Temple of Domm Fedora.
TEMPLE
Crown:
Brim (front & back):
Brim (sides):
Ribbon:

Any help will be appreciated.

Just eyeballing it :anxious: the ToD hat looks slightly smaller in all dimensions. Even forgetting about the unfortunate taper, the crown certainly looks lower.

And if the crown really is lower, the brim would look disproportionally wide if the brim dimensions weren't also slightly narrower than the Raiders hat. But I'm just guessing. :?

Penman’s website does not say the actual dimensions, but it does say:

“Instead, Indy’s signature costume piece features a slightly smaller brim, and the crown, ever so much shorter, also features a very slight, yet noticeable taper. Additionally, the front pinch is now much looser, and would stay so through the franchises next two sequels.”

He’d probably let you know the actual dimensions of you asked.

I am no expert - but I may have trimmed a brim recently (scariest thing - "felt" like (no pun intended) I was doing heart surgery) to get a closer Temple brim on the sides and I would guess no more than 2.5 and certainly no less than 2.25 on the sides.

I was happy where I ended up - but was nervous as heck in the process. Given that we are dealing with brims that are no more than 2.7 ish to begin with, the slightest trim or modification has a much more dramatic effect than if we were trimming off multiple inches off of another garment.

Just my very novice two cents. But the Temple sides are what I decided to adjust for, and I am pleased.
