Ok! Here are the results. From top to bottom:
Shirts
Wested (Custom dyed)
MBA Costumes
Adventurebilt (Custom dyed)
Pants
MBA Costumes
Magnoli
Wested 2nd generation (slightly darker/browner in colour)
Wested 1st generation
@Canyon: Congratulations to Canyon cause she is the only one who dared take a "leap of faith"...
@Howard Weinstein: I will hide myself in a fridge in order to survive Indy's wrath
@modernindy: Your question is one that cannot be answered in just a few lines and has historically opened a can of worms in the Indy community and with the latest revelations of 2 shirt colours being used during production (there is a post here in the forum analysing this issue) the term SA has taken for me a more broad meaning. Subjectively, between the three, I can summarize you the following :
Pants
- Most SA: MBA Costumes (Raiders) hands down (except from the pocket flaps which are of a LC design). When you wear a pair of MBA trousers is like being transferred in the movie set.
- Second Most SA: Magnoli. In terms of design is very close to the MBA. And the quality is very good. The colour is a tad lighter (greener outdoors I would say in real life) but as you can see the contrast created by the camera lens, makes the trousers appear almost identical to the MBA.
- Third Most SA: Wested are basically a more LC/KOTCS colour. The pattern and design does not reach the accuracy of neither the MBA nor the Magnoli. The 1st generation were a tad lighter (greyer) than the 2nd generation (darker/browner).
Shirts
- Most SA: I would say overall the MBA shirt, except the epaulettes which are an LC design, the double front plates which maybe they were slightly narrower than the Raiders movie shirt and the button count. When Noel Howard closed down MBA Costumes and was using a N.H. Label, he corrected the epaulettes' design. Again, when you wear an MBA/NH shirt is like being transferred to the movie set.
- On par with the MBA: Adventurebilt. The adventurebilt was designed using the MBA as a basis with improved and more accurate design features. The only thing which was off IMO was the colour and that is the reason that I redyed mine to match the MBA.
- Third Most SA: Wested. I could categorize this shirt as a "very close enough". This shirt could easily become a KTCS shirt by shortening the epaulettes by around 1.5 inches or so. The wested shirt colour is different than the original. Attempting to dye this shirt may not bring the desired results as it is a mix of cotton and polyester AFAIK. This is the reason why mine is lighter than the others.
Of course there may be more accurate shirts than the above e.g. Azuma but in general any combination of light khaki/stone colour shirt and taupe/brown pants are good for an Indy look.
