FOUND - Here are the "original Bapty" photos!

Post by WetDigger »

Is there a chance someone out there in the forum saved a copy of the high-res photos of the original screen used Bapty revolver? I have run an extensive search and every single link is long dead. :(

(UPDATE: Thread title has been changed, we now have quite the archive of Bapty images at hand. :clap: :D :TOH: Scroll on!)

I was looking for the photos the owner of the original had shared here on the forum a while back, but in their absence that website has a couple that I can work with.

WetDigger,

I believe that this is the thread you are referring to:

http://indygear.com/cow/viewtopic.php?f=25&t=24935" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Unfortunately it looks like the photos are all long gone.

However we may be in luck!! I just checked my computers library and it looks like I have saved the photos to my hard drive! I don't have an easy way to post those photos online anymore but if you PM me I can email them to you and then you could get them posted here at COW again.

Wow, great pics! Thanks for sharing!

Are the cartridge slots blocked by something for safety? Looks like there is something inside.

Cheers,

Yes. Since this firearm came from England it had to be "deactivated" before it was sold so that it would be impossible to function and fire. During the filming it was still functional.

Sadly that's the way it has to be done over there before a firearm can be released to the public. :cry:

I would take even a blocked firearm if it was allowed in my country. I dream of a deactivated Webley.....

Thanks, IB! :clap: :notworthy:

Do we know who owns it now? Or is that a stupid question given your photos and letter?

Well these photos were originally posted on Mon Dec 03, 2007 by stuwil in this thread:

http://indygear.com/cow/viewtopic.php?f=25&t=24935" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

As a moderator I'm not sure if you can check if stuwil is still active or not. I guess we could simply send him a PM to see if he still owns it. Otherwise I hadn't heard if it had changed ownership or not.

P.S. Just checked stuwil's profile and it looks like he visited COW less than 3 months ago. I just sent him a PM.

This revolver was recently sold in the PropStore live Auction. The price paid was around US$50,000.00

It could be... it would show my quest for aquiring one and changing the laws so I can own it... All strewn with whipcracking adventures of course!

Yes, I do still own the Bapty revolver. I did consign it to the Propstore auction but it failed to meet my reserve price. If anyone has serious interest please feel free to contact me.

Stuwil,

Thanks for dropping in! Good to know that if any of our members here at COW needs some info on the Bapty they still have the source to contact. Many of us have made our own versions and the info you have provided in the past has been of great help. I hope you don't mind that I reposted your original photos that got lost way back some time. Let us know if any of us can be of any assistance to you!

:) :D :lol: :clap:

I was just in contact with "lostinperiphery" regarding the wonderful Bapty sight reproduction he has just manufactured. He was kind enough to share with me the super hi-res Bapty images he acquired from The Prop Store while researching his project. So that we all can have a good source of Bapty photos all in one thread, I figured it would be great to share these Bapty pics with everyone right here!

Here are the Prop Store photos of the original screen used Bapty in a reduced size as per forum rules.

Enjoy!! :)

MAN, I'm lovin' this thread.

If just one piece of screen-used gear could be within my reach, I'd want it to be the Bapty.

I too want to say thanks for the great pic's.
My Smith is at this moment have lostinperiphery reproduction site put on.

That and I just snagged a set of checkered grips with the gold medallion.
And at an awesome price. Hope I didn't snag it away from someone here.

And yes, once I get it back, I'll be showing it off.
