It was made using 4 ounce cowhide, the belly side. It was very bad and very elastic in a lot of points. The strands kept breaking while stretching,
so I really couldn't pull hard enough during plaiting. In a lot of points the plait is not tight enough.
In addition, though you cannot really tell from the pics, the whip came out VERY thick and it lacks the nice suppleness of a professionally made whip. I knew it would be thick, but it came out bigger than my initial calculations.
It has a rolled leather core, one bolster, a 6 plait belly, another bolster and finally 12 plait overlay, ending in a 6 point fall hitch. Which is a bit of a mess, I am still awful at hitches.
