Just enough 'truth' in the story to catch a reader's attention.

In an era where "brand" is everything and names like "Indian" motorcycles have been resurrected 4-5 times, someone will pick this one up.

Agreed, another company (hat maker or otherwise) will likely buy the rights to the name and continue production in some form or other.

It also said they didn't stop production, so I, too, think it will be a matter of someone with deep pockets just picking up the brand for a song.

So about my question. Did Borsa supply hats that were never used or what’s the story?
I own several vintage borsas. Great hats. I was in st. Augustine and they had some modern fur borsas. Different to say the least.

I had the same question as Jeremiah.Jeremiah wrote:Was temple of doom hat a borsa?
I read the print version of this story earlier in the week and the Indy connection didn't jump out. I don't recall ever hearing that any of the movie hats were Borsalinos.
Can anyone shed any light?
thanks

As I recall from Jack’s thread, at the time when ToD was being produced, HJ was sourcing all of their hats from Borsalino (or had some similar arrangement). At any rate, the ToD hat was a Borsalino.

Re: Italian Hatmaker Borsalino is closing it's doors
I read in The Raven that Henry Jones Sr's hat was possibly a Borsalino walking hat. Which to my untrained eye looks about right. If so, that lays to rest the question of whether Borsas were used onscreen (apart from the issue of the ToD fedora-- maker versus brand).

Who said we didn't?Jeremiah wrote:Yeah thanks. Weird that Jeff and Michaelson did not know this.
They produced the felt, but HJ made the hats. That's been known for years, so why repeat it again and again?
That's why Joe Peters of Peters Brothers offered a version of the Indy fedora (ironically CALLED the 'Michaelson' for some weird reason ) back years ago specifically MADE by Borsalino (I own two)....as a nod to their contribution to the franchise history.
It's plain YOU didn't read chapters 4 and 5 again, Jeremiah.
