A Bag Fit for an Adventurer

Post by temple_runner »

Hey guys,

For a while I've been looking for an article of luggage that would be suitable for my Indiana Jones impression. I needed something to carry all my Indy gear in that could also double as an actual prop fit for Indy.

Today, I stumbled upon a old leather weekender-type bag that needed some TLC. Picked it up for $35, brought it home, and gave it the good ole' thrice-over. After some Bickmore cleaner and moisturizer (it really stunk this stuff in) it looked and felt great. The inside still needs some baking soda for the smell.

Also, I went ahead and made up some vintage luggage tags, applied them with Mod Podge, and then attached some luggage tags, too. This bag isn't really screen accurate, but it was inspired by Indy's bag in Temple of Doom and is in the essence of Indiana Jones. I still want to age the labels with scuffs and such, but I ran out of daylight.

Let me know what ya'll think. Thanks.

Nice! The decals completely make the bag.

Looks great! I found an old salesman's bag and did something similar. I love seeing old things being saved or given a new purpose!

Thanks for all of the feedback, guys. I'm going to test run the bag at a local con this weekend.
