Well, for what it is worth, I like 'The Everyman Logo'! Reason: Simple and to the point! I worked in advertising for many years and 'simple and easy to recall/remember = Good Retention and greater sales (of product and/or services)! "Everyman" speaks to men of all backgrounds, types, style preferences, etc. And the logo through it's simplicity states that 'He who buys recognizes that regardless of his stature, position in life, etc., is still but -- one of 'everymen' and mankind. Wow! I should be charging for this kind of advise.

Seriously though, it is catchy and like a good 'jingle' it goes right to 'the hook' of the product. ie: "You deserve a break today...." and so on.

Every bit as good a call on name as "The Henry" and perhaps even a bit better as it doesn't stifle itself to only 'Indy' style hats! Think about it; Bogart was 'Everyman', John Wayne was 'Everyman' and so is 'Indy' one of the 'Everymen' in our world. Yeah, one may be quite unique and special, but each is also a part of the community of the world -- thus -- 'Everyman'! ;) W>

Agreed.... also the thought that an "everyman" can enjoy a quality hat without spending hundreds on hundreds of dollars for one.

I like it too.

Shame John is limiting to just one felt colour (for none Indy) at the moment, though.

I think there wasn't enough interest in the Moss or Whiskey color at the moment. I would imagine to get a good price on these as a wholesale order, you would need to order quite a lot. I can understand John not wanting to lay out too much dough to keep an inventory in stock that isn't moving too quickly.

I'll say it again, this hat is far nicer than any other factory-made hat out there.

Currently enjoying my new Penman Everyman. Definitely looks and feels better than my Akubra Fed IV Deluxe and I am looking forward to comparing it to an AB Henry grey clipper hat I also have on order. The delivery box was a bit flimsy though so it arrived a little battered although not bruised. I hadn't realised how many hats I had under the bed until I dug out the Akubra today!

Nice. Yeah, the Everyman hat is a big step up from the Akubra Federation, even the Deluxe.

Thanks. I am still tweaking it with dry bashing but it's coming along. I was told by John that since I have a small head he used a 4oz beaver hat body rather than the standard 5oz he uses. This is how small hat bodies in beaver come that he uses.
This is very floppy akin to the ABL rabbit hat body as a result. But I think the ABL might be slightly more floppy. It's not my favorite hat body style (floppy) but it's still a very nice hat. I noticed with my ABL that the FL heat and humidity just made the brim sag a lot over time.
I am hoping this won't happen with the beaver fur hat body. I think with the fur being more dense than the rabbit it won't.

Anyway, it looks good for now so that's what matters. It's a fine custom made hat and I see no reason to look anywhere else if I ever should need a new one.

One thing I noticed is that it does feel different from my AB raiders in beaver. Seems less dense than the AB. I wonder if it's just the way it's pounced? Both bodies are the same 4oz weight. I honestly could not tell the difference in feel from this and my ABL in rabbit. I know this is Beaver because it's a penmans raiders but with the AB I can definitely tell the difference between it and the ABL. Might be that Steve used a slight amount of more stiffner. Though I would not say the AB is stiff. Just more malleable like clay.
Anyway. That's my review. Nice hat.

My current bash of my penman raiders in beaver.
Yeah that ribbon is too far forward to be SA but the rest of the bash looks good to my eye. My head is a slight round oval so I needed to exaggerate the turn a bit.

Because most people here have multiple hats, AND are happy with the ones they have. To us, it would be worth having another hat and also being happy with having one already.

This is a slippery slope, and once you fall down, there's only Sarah's Hat Boxes below to break your fall.
