Signed Adventurebilt

Post by lankywookiee »

Bought this quite a while back and it's sadly spent way too long in it's hat box.

Finally got round to making a stand for it to go on display and I'm pretty pleased with it so I wanted to share!

Had to angle the hat slightly to make it possible to see the autograph but I think I've spread the weight and kept the angle shallow enough that the hat won't deform under it's own weight... I hope... :-k

Awesome! Did you get that signed in person, or did you pick it up from a dealer? I don't think Ford makes it a habit of signing hats too often.

It's one of ten that he signed in 2011 for Celebrity Authentics.
I missed the boat when they sold them originally but managed to pick one up later from someone who decided to part with one.
It's now a prized part of my collection!

Are you going to have a glass or plastic box cover made for it?

Beautiful display, but it's going to catch a LOT of dust being out like that. :-k

NICELY done! Steve Delk would be proud! :M:

I've got a plexiglass display top for it. I tried getting a good picture with the top on but took it off for the photos as it was reflecting too much and I thought you'd prefer seeing the hat rather than a reflection of me holding my iPhone!

I'm really happy with it and glad to be getting some good comments about it here, thanks!

Excellent! I thought as much, considering the amount of effort you went through to get it like this, it HAD to have a nice cover! :)

WELL done!

 Wow! Now, this is.... truly "The Holy Grail of all Indy Movie Hats....as it signed by Indy himself" :TOH: !

Now, so as to not miss an opportunity to get myself into trouble.... This belongs in a museum  ,! I am of reasonable belief that the folks at The Smithsonian might be of interest..... or...... :CR:

Ok.... I am moving away and I will not take my internet connections with me..... ;) ! Great display and great fortune to grab this hat! Enjoy! W>

So cool. Only downside is that you can't wear it! I mean, I guess you could, but it'd be shame to sweat that signature off.

Just curious, Forrest for the Trees said that Ford didn't make a habit of signing hats. Anyone know if this is some sort of personal policy of his? Honestly, Ford doesn't strike me as the type of celebrity who loves to mingle with fans (or talk show hosts, haha!), so I imagine his autograph is rather hard to come by, in general.

He used to sign by mail back in the day, if you wrote thru his agent:

I remember a post not too long ago from someone who tried to get a hat signed by Ford, but he refused. I think he only does it for charity auctions and the like.

So, is the hat a size 58, 7 1/4?

The info that came with the hat says that it was 'created to exacting specifications for Harrison Ford and the Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull film by the Adventurebilt Hat Company' so I would assume that to be a 58. There's no size label in the hat to confirm it but it certainly appears to be that size to me

That's great! Looks like it's a lot less rushed than some of his autographs, really nice example

I sent the poster to his agent, Patricia McQueeny, in the spring of 1995, and received it back signed about six months later. First ever celebrity autograph, and certainly the crown jewel of my Indy collection. I was extremely fortunate. :TOH:
