Great looking jacket they are making mine now can't wait to get it. Wish it was sooner rather than later. I am getting the same jacket with thin chocolate cowhide.

Re: Raiders Steele & Jones "Thin Horsehide"
Can't wait to receive it; it's supposed to ship out today. The only thing I have to compare it to is a Todd's. I wanted a more "real world" jacket that was tougher. I was set on a Wested Hero, but when Diego told me about his new thin horsehide, it got my gears turning. And, having seen his work, it was too good to pass up. Plus, mine's the first, which is pretty dang cool. More pics when I get it.

None of the pictures do it justice. To say I'm a satisfied Steele & Jones customer is an understatement. Thank you, Diego!

Re: Raiders Steele & Jones "Thin Horsehide"
At first glance, I'd swear that was a USW's 'roo due to the drape and surface!
Other than the color, it's a dead ringer!
BEAUTIFUL jacket!

Just feeling it with my fingers, the thickness feels identical to my Todd's lamb skin. It's thin and very comfortable.

That's exactly how we describe it!kozmoedave wrote:Just feeling it with my fingers, the thickness feels identical to my Todd's lamb skin. It's thin and very comfortable.
It drapes like lambskin, but with the strenght of horsehide.

Re: Raiders Steele & Jones "Thin Horsehide"
For those that haven't ordered from Diego, he asked for pictures of me in a jacket I liked the fit of, along with its measurements. I used a Todd's, and Diego made a couple suggestions for slight alterations. This man obviously knows what he's doing; I agreed and let him work his magic. Couldn't be happier.

Re: Raiders Steele & Jones "Thin Horsehide"
Dave, I see tremendous flaws with this jacket that could really get outta' hand unless you take care of it right away. Better box it up and send it out here, so I can inspect it, pronto...if not sooner!
If it's about lunch time and you feel the need to strap on a feed bag....you could be wearing an S&J horsehide jacket...if you try to answer your spouse with a 'whinny'....you could be wearing....
Time to call in the horse whisperer.....Psssttt!....send me that jacket!

Re: Raiders Steele & Jones "Thin Horsehide"
Looks fantastic better than other jackets and skins I have seen from other manufactures. I am getting the same jacket, Diego said they are putting mine together now. After seeing yours I really can't wait to get mine. If mine turns out as nice as yours then I know I made the right decision to get one made by Diego and his partner. I was going to order a Wested until I started reading this form and checking into other manufactures. Everyone had nothing bad to say about Steele and Jones where other companies all had some negatives. I was worried about the Wested custom fit not being right but after communicating with Diego and seeing your jacket I am not worried about my Steele and Jones not being a good fit.

Thank you, everyone.
Jones-Solo, I know what you mean. And I've never seen a negative comment about Steele & Jones. I'm sure you'll be VERY pleased with yours.
One of these days I'll be contacting Diego again for a distressed LC.

Re: Raiders Steele & Jones "Thin Horsehide"
Thin horsehide? Hmm, the best of both worlds (thin, yet tough as nails). Tempting tempting, lol!

Indeed. It tempted me enough to pull the trigger pretty quickly. Been wearing it every day since I got it.
Re: Raiders Steele & Jones "Thin Horsehide"
Was it stiff & require a lot of breaking in? That seems to be what I hear a lot about horsehide, so I was wondering if something as thin as this avoids that.kozmoedave wrote:Indeed. It tempted me enough to pull the trigger pretty quickly. Been wearing it every day since I got it.

Re: Raiders Steele & Jones "Thin Horsehide"
Well, stiff here is kind of a relative term. It's stiffer than lamb, but I wouldn't say this jacket is stiff at all.
