Re: Adam Winrich's world record whip crack
How does this even count? He has to have someone hold the end of the whip to make it work!

Re: Adam Winrich's world record whip crack
Looks cool, but I agree. It looks like it took the effort of two individuals to produce the crack.
Maybe it's the only way it could be done though.

Re: Adam Winrich's world record whip crack
It's a pretty cool trick any way ya slice it. I'd hate to see the lead time, price tag, and shipping cost on that whip!
Re: Adam Winrich's world record whip crack
I think the article said it was made of rope. Not worth reading again as it does not put Indiana Jones to shame at all.
Re: Adam Winrich's world record whip crack
Lame, not only not a leather whip, but not an Indy style either. Lame, as is all this record breaking nonsense. How many whip cracks can I do in one minute while boiling an egg? Once again, lame. And doesn't belong on this forum either...

I like the way you think Tyrloch.
Re: Adam Winrich's world record whip crack
Adam is an entertainer, and as such, this is pretty cool. Love watching the wave travel down the whip.
Re: Adam Winrich's world record whip crack
That's all well and good, then post it on a record-breaking or Ren-faire forum. It has no place on this forum. If he was an entertainer in the Indy-impersonator sense, then that would be a different story. But blue tights and fire whips?

Re: Adam Winrich's world record whip crack
Well, Adam didn't post it, and based on his contribution to the hobby, I guess I wouldn't blame him if he did. Clearly posted with good intentions.
When it comes down to it, I'm sure Indy wouldn't care about world records but he wasn't immune to the draw of fortune and glory.

Re: Adam Winrich's world record whip crack
The fortune & glory aspect I see, as all this record breaking nonsense is just publicity seeking horse-poop. Look at it this way: if someone posted a world record for how many bullets he shot in a one minute, breaking a record, does it belong in the Indy Guns section if it was done with a non-Indy gun? I don't see anyone posting the results of the Australian whipcracking competitions either. I also didn't really see the rationale in posting congrats to his engagement here either. Quite a few of us whipcracker's birthdays just past, and I didn't come across any happy birthdays here. But that's fine, because it doesn't belong here. If the original post was made in the attempt to infuse some life into a near-dead section of the forum, then I applaud his efforts. However, it still does not belong here...
Re: Adam Winrich's world record whip crack
Hey let's be clear: Adam is a phenomenal whipcracker, there's no denying that. I'll admit that I periodically watch some of his videos to get some pointers. But the fact of the matter is that he left the realm of Indy style whipcracking/whip-making a long time ago. Anything posted here or anywhere else concerning him solely promotes Adam and his ego, not the Indy hobby. Take a look at any of his FB posts, they all have the tone of "hey, look what I just did or what I just made or I just bought!" But almost everything he makes is for himself and not for sale to the public. Which is completely fine, but posting it is a bit of a tease. Imagine Mike Murphy (or any other whipmaker) starting posting similar stuff here just to stroke his own ego. I understand that the original post wasn't made by Adam, but was made by one of his fans. It's off topic as it is, and would've been so much worse if posted personally. Anyway, just my personal opinion: feel free to vehemently disagree...
Re: Adam Winrich's world record whip crack
Uh, no thanks. Really not something to get agitated over.
Re: Adam Winrich's world record whip crack
I just posted it because I thought it was a funny out of the ordinary whip trick that broke a world record and I thought some Indy fans would find it entertaining. If I posted it in the wrong place then I apologize, the moderators will move it to right place of its incorrect.

All's well. The way I see it, it's just entertainment quasi-related to the hobby, guys. Take it or leave it at your leisure.

Re: Adam Winrich's world record whip crack
Even though it's not leather, it's still quite a monster to get to crack.
At the Los Angeles Whip Cracking Convention this past January everyone got a chance to crack the longest whip in the world at that time, only a few were able to get it to crack:

Also, the one in this video was plaited from the firewhip kevlar, I think the original intention was to be the worlds longest fire whip. From what I was told, it cost roughly $6,000 just in materials.
All the best!
