Disneyland Indiana Jones Jacket
Hello,
I only recently found this website and I am amazed by all of the expertise and passion from the members. I got the Disneyland Indiana Jones jacket because I liked the way it looked. It was reasonably priced, just as much as the mall leather stores, and at the time I was shopping for a leather jacket. That was 10 years ago, and now it is nicely distressed from all the travels. I never really thought much about it being an Indiana Jones Jacket, like I said, I just really really liked the way it looked. friends have always mentioned they like the style but they say they can't find it at any leather jacket store. When they ask to see an Indy jacket they're shown something that looks similar but not the same. That made me wonder what I would do if I ever needed to replace it. That's when I found this site. I was blown away. So many kinds of leather, vintage, distressed, goat, lamb and good old cowhide. For a long time I thought I was the only one who felt this way about the jacket. I thought I was being silly for obessing about the sleeve length or the collar being to wide but I have read many of the posts on the jacket and I am getting into the whole Indy look. Reading the site has made really interested in getting a Wested.

Nitpicking is what this site is all about (among all kinds of other wonderful things).
I understand your amazement at finding out there are other detail-obsessed fans...I felt the same way.
I came for the jacket and stayed for the people.
Of course, I have the jacket. Okay, jackets.
After the Wested, you'll find out about the Flightsuits. Then the fun begins.
Wait'll you start buying hats!

Don't get me wrong. I love my Indiana Jones jacket even if it is from Disneyland.
I do admit when I first got it I didn't know to much about the finer points of the Indy style jacket.
I plan to keep my 10 year old Disneyland Indy cowhide, it has distressed so nicely over the years.
But now that I have read many testimonies about the wested, I do want to get one. I just need to figure out which one, Lamb or Goat, predistressed or dark brown or authentic brown. When I read some of the posts and the many descriptions and variations, I feel like I'll never be able to make up my mind
I still don't know if finding this website is good or bad for me.

My 'rents got me one of those Disney jackets as a christmas present around '00, and it was the one with the snap cuffs and all that. For all it's innacuracy I loved that jacket, and it followed me all around the world. now that I have a Wested I feel almost embarassed about having worn the old one, but when I remember all the good times I had in that jacket the shame just doesn't last. It also rekindled my fantacism with Indiana Jones, so I have that to thank for eventually making my way here.

All this talk of a ten-year-old Disney jacket makes me want to post these pictures again... this shows the natural distressing of my 1994 Disney jacket:
This jacket is my official "I'm bound to get really dirty" hiking jacket.
Kind regards,
Indy
P.S. Sorry about my grumpy face in the last shot... it was in the middle of summer and I was modeling my wool Mystery of the Blues cardigan...

I've owned a Disney jacket for several years and with the exception of the side straps, that _ mentioned, they nailed the LC jacket. The predressed leather used isn't the greatest. Napa cowhide - in some spots it had an almost suade feel to it. After a couple of applications of Pecards lotion the suade feel was gone, the leather darkened up great and still retained a wonderful distressed look. It will remain my beater jacket. It may be a Disney jacket, but it's no mickey mouse product. On a side note, the US Wings prototype that I aquired from a certain moustached gentleman at last years QM is the best jacket I've ever owned and is the one I use when nicer dress code is called for.

My cousin used to work for Disney, and she took us to the back-lot for Disney crew-members and family to go through all of their extra Disney merchandise.
The first thing I went after....was the jacket, lol, I found it....marked down too....but, as _ mentioned, they only had the version with the buttons on the cuffs, needless to say, she was not very screen accurate so I passed on it.
But I agree, the jacket pics posted above do look great! Thank you for sharing them!
Kind Regards,
Captain D
