Did WESTED fall off the face of the earth?

Post by TheMantis »

I have been emailing them for weeks about my Bond jacket and NO reply....I hate to call them but they are quite deficient in communicating to me about a product they said would be dispatched....

I think I heard something about some e-mails bouncing back from Wested for some reason or another. It's also my understanding that Peter gets so flooded with e-mail that he doesn't always have time to read, much less answer them every day.

I think you're best off calling him. Every time I've called Wested I've spoken with Peter and he's always been friendly and most helpful. Especially if you are having dispatch problems with the jacket, it's worth the call. I'm sure there's a logical explaination. Good luck!

Bink's right. Swindiana had a probelm with emails not getting through to Wested. He talks about it here:

http://www.indygear.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=7152

His actual post regarding the problem:

After having waited for a reply from Peter and Gerry for a couple of weeks I finally sent a message from my Hotmail-account and got an instant reply. Apparantly they have been having trouble with some bouncing off certain addresses and accounts, at least the hadn't gotten my email. I'm not sure this has to do with my ordinary account or theirs but I just thought I'd give you all some heads up in case you haven't gotten a reply from Wested. Try sending from a different address!
Oh, and no problem with sending the jacket back. Gerry told me the jacket perhaps was just too big for me and that they would do all necessary alterations. I will also add 2 inches to the length, shorten the sleeves about 1 cm and add a little more room around the neck.

Cheers!

Swindiana

Hope this helps!

Are you using the email form on their ‘Contact Us’ page or an email account that you were provided with from your ISP? If so, try using a hotmail account or some other FREE service. I’ve noticed intermittent problems with web based forms MANY times on various sites through the years. Then again, I’ve also encountered sites that refuse hotmail accounts as well, MK’s Lounge being just one. In any event, you may just wish to follow the procedure posted above if you do not wish to call.

Yes, I'm sure its just a technical problem.....I've purchased 4 or 5 Wested jackets before, and I have always had top-notch service in purchasing from Peter at Wested....hang in there it'll all work out  .

Kind Regards,

I just received a reply from Peter this morning (EST). I first sent an e-mail with just said "Order #xxxxxxxx". No reply for almost a week. So I send the same message but in the title, i wrote a little more "Raiders Cotton Jacket Order #xxxxxxx". This one he replied to in two or three days, depending on which time zone you're in. So, I think it might have to do with the subject line, because the e-mail checker (Gerry or Jerry?) may just delete ones that could potentially be spam...?

Just my $.02

I don't believe so. Probably just a mistake or other circumstances - I sent an email with a header just like yours (order#XXXXXX) this morning and got a reply from Gerry a few hours later. Then again, I'm only 1 hour ahead of Wested Mean Time.

Mantis,
Been exactly where you are. Trying to reach Wested both here with PM's and also through e-mail with no response WHILE I see Peter reading and replying to posts on this board. I'm going to go on a limb here and say I believe that Peter would most likely have read your post and why he won't repsond is a mystery. I wish there were simply an easier way to get in touch with them besides getting up early and calling them which usually costs a pretty penny even if you use a phone card.

On the other hand, every single time I've spoken to Peter on the phone he was more than a gentleman and took as long talking to me as I wanted, answering all of my questions nomatter how trivial.

I realize that Wested has a large list of customers which include big film companies and for that they are truely busy most of the time. However, is it possible to have someone there who's job it is to reply to these enquiries in a timely manner, if at all?

I love my Westeds and I like speaking to those at Wested when I can but this lack of good communication makes it very, very difficult to do business.

Coming in a bit late of this thread, I too had a order and was waiting on a reply.

When the reply did come, this is what i got:

/quote
"Dear Charles

Sorry – we have school holidays here and I don’t come in during this time so the e-mail response is slower.

I will send you another e-mail either later today or tomorrow, and again I apologise for the delay.

Regards Gerry "
/end quote

So that explains the delays, since that time I have gotten prompt replys to all my emails.

Thanks again wested :)

Cotton Raiders

Post by Ghos7a55assin »

Well, I ordered a Raiders Cotton. Peter sent me an e-mail regarding the delay for mine specifically, saying that it had some quality control issues in the stitching of the lining; however, he told me that it should be dispatched this week...
