Today I was fumbling around in Goodwill looking for t-shirts. I didn't find anything, so I walked toward the exit and saw in front of me, on the cashier's counter, this beauty:
I couldn't believe it. My Budget Indy costume currently includes a Dorfman Pacific, but to find a Stetson to go with my costume was awesome. I wear a Stetson cowboy hat in wintertime, so I was naturally drawn to the brand. I was expecting to pay $10 for it, like the sticker said, but the man at the register rang it up as $1 and change. I rounded up to $2 for charity (making sure Karma was not on my bad side.)
The inside says 1984, so I take it this is a post-Temple of Doom. The brim is a lot smaller than the Doorman Pacific, which I like. After a few brushings and a re-shaping, I think this will be a great addition.
Also, I was lucky enough that the hat fit me perfectly!

I own one just like that. Gave it to my son..hoping..beyond all hope, that he would treasure it. He trashed it..trashed it..in no time flat. I was sad. Cool hat to own, and I used to wear it camping. I had to reshape it obviously, but still love that hat.

Really cool find! Takes me back many (and I do mean -- many) years! Enjoy! Great hat for 'whatever' comes your way and without the worries of (this is too expensive and good of a hat to do this) moments ! Very cool, indeed ! W>

I still have one of those in almost new condition I picked up on EBay. It is lighter in weight and I wear it as a between hat from my heavier fur felt and straw.
Good score!

Congratulations on finding that Stet! I would've felt like Indy himself had I found such a treasure.

Great find.
Don't let it get soaked like in a frog drowning rain, as Stetson was using powder dyes in those felts 'back in the day'. It takes a lot for it to release, so you don't have to baby the hat, but be aware, if you think you're going to be in a day long soaking rain, you MAY end up with brown water running down your face.
Been there, done that, the kids STILL occasionally remind me of the day when Dad's hat bled brown during a rain storm.
Regards! Michaelson

I thought they still used the powder. The last Stetson I bought was loaded with it! I had to return it because I couldn't touch it without getting brown hands!

Last I heard, that practice had been discontinued by Stetson. I'm guessing you got old stock.
