Missing Gear
There are a couple of scenes in the movies where time is important. The Tanis map room and meeting Lao and catching his flight out of Hong Kong to name the obvious ones where time was crucial. That's not including all the flights, classes, rendezvous, etc that are implied. All that begs the question - why do we never see him wearing a watch?

Re: Missing Gear
This is an OLD discussion... where's Michaelson?
This is one of the big things I wanted to see in KOTCS (along with a backpack... at least I got that request fulfilled).

Re: Missing Gear
I'm probably in the minority, but I kinda like that a timepiece is missing from the ensemble. One less thing I have to worry about when in gear. Sorta liberating because it takes me outa my daily routine a little bit.
And for the record, I'm a fellow horophile with more than one wristwatch.

Re: Missing Gear
I figured I wasn't the first to notice among this crew... A watch probably would not last too long on his wrist anyway. Maybe a pocket watch?

Re: Missing Gear
In the books it's remarked he carries a large silver open face pocket watch, so I've always gone on the assumption that was pretty much what he carried....WHEN he carried.
His work was too rough for a wrist watch (at least the way HE practiced archaeology), so if he had to have a time piece, my vote has always been a pocket watch.
Here's one of the MANY times this has come up, for your further reading:

Re: Missing Gear
Yes, his work was very demanding and tough for a watch, however many WWI field watches had metal guards over the crystals of the watches which would have assisted in taking the blows, punches, etc. Plus, it would have added (in my mind) another 'period' touch and tool to his general work wear. Then again, what' time....? Time (again, in my mind) was only created by man to track days and record history -- time in God's terms......well, it makes one 'ponder the possibilities', does it not ? Re: Missing Gear
The lack of a watch could also explain why he always missed faculty meetings.

Re: Missing Gear
Forget the watch, how about some spare bullets! Surely he has some since in some scenes he shoots beyond his gun's/guns' capacity, but it'd be nice to see a reload performed.

Re: Missing Gear
Ah, but we do see him reload when the Hi-Power goes dry during the Raven Bar shootout. Check it out, in sequence:

I'm not gonna allow myself to get reeled into this gun discussion. Nope. I'm not. This is a 'nonexistent Indy watch' thread.

You do know it was supposed to represent a 1911, right?
