Last Crusade Fedora
I got a Steele & Jones rabbit fur felt Last Crusade shaped fedora & other than it being a little snug, I think I like it very much. What about you?

Re: Last Crusade Fedora
Looks spot on! What was the wait time on this and did you get to bash it into shape?
Re: Last Crusade Fedora
I think I sent the payment June 5, so I think that is close to when I placed the order.
It is their Explorador '38 and it came shaped like this already. I just had to keep giving it some shaping and molding to reinforce what you see.

The Woodlands? You're 35 min away from me! I'm in Huntsville.
Too bad I'm moving across the US in a month, hahaha.
But, back on topic. Great looking lid! It looks really good on you.

Thanks fellas, it's breaking in nicely.
Re: Last Crusade Fedora
Car, that is a good looking lid!
Re: Last Crusade Fedora
Hunting for the definitive measurements for the Last Crusade Fedora. Mike at NW made me a beautiful TOD in beaver, and I want a LC. Anyone have them handy ?
Re: Last Crusade Fedora
CAR, can you tell me where you found the dimensions for the LC ? Thanks.
Re: Last Crusade Fedora
Jarhead
I didn't find any LC measurements. I had the hat made by Steele & Jones; I assume they have some specs?

I don't know for sure, but I'm fairly confident that the LC would have a 2 1/2 brim on the sides, 2 5/8 brim front & back, with a 5 1/2 crown before shaping. Which brings it in slightly smaller than the Raiders.

Dimensions depends on the wearer proportions.jarhead wrote:CAR, can you tell me where you found the dimensions for the LC ? Thanks.
The specs Chewbacca Jones posted are pretty accurate to Ford's hat.
Cheers.-

Re: Last Crusade Fedora
Car96 will you let us know the brim 's front and back measurements? I ordered a LC hat that has a 2 7/8 f &b so I need to know how much to trim it.
Thanks

Re: Last Crusade Fedora
Ummmm . . . at the risk of offering unsolicited advice - trimming a dimensional brim is even tougher than trying to cut down a non-dimensional one, and as someone who's been a hat guy for close to 50 years (and prides himself on doing to stuff himself) I wouldn't attempt either.anindyjones wrote:Car96 will you let us know the brim 's front and back measurements? If you want a smaller brim have the hat maker do it for you.

You are just a tad off on those specs but close.

Re: Last Crusade Fedora
I am not sure what the measurements are nor would I do a very good job at taking the measurements and being precise.
Sorry I can not be of more help.

Re: Last Crusade Fedora
How long did it take for the hat to ship? I'm assuming it's coming from Italy correct?
Re: Last Crusade Fedora
I think Steele and Jones is in Argentina, not Italy. Took 3 months or so, I think?

Re: Last Crusade Fedora
Nice looking topper. Steele and Jones have always enticed me with their offerings.
Any chance you can show off some pics from a little further away and in natural sunlight? Always looks better that way.

Car96 what I meant is how long after they mailed your hat did it take to get to you? How long did the shipping process take? Thanks

Re: Last Crusade Fedora
From dispatch to delivery, ussually takes about 15 days.anindyjones wrote:Car96 what I meant is how long after they mailed your hat did it take to get to you? How long did the shipping process take? Thanks
Much of the waiting depends of Costums clearance.
Cheers.-

LC Fedora by Steele & Jones
LC style jacket US Wings. I think it was what they were/are calling their 30th Anniversary Featherweight Lambskin.
Not a bad jacket once it distressed. I would like to get the arm length shorter done by a tailor instead of just rolling it underneath.

Car,
Your LC gear is simply outstanding!!! The jacket and hat are spot on! Which scene or bash is your lid supposed to replicate? I have a S&J '38 also. It's currently bashed in the grail temple style.

Re: Last Crusade Fedora
yes, it's coming along nicely car.
Re: Last Crusade Fedora
The shirt and pants were and are not trying to be LC styles.
The hat is just a standard S&J LC hat.
The jacket I just really tried to distress heavily and learn some techniques of distressing.
The bag strap has been difficult to size, it's doesn't really fit with the buckle in front of my body- it's Make it Jones.
The holster too is MIJ.

Re: Last Crusade Fedora
I have a WPG shirt that I died a light tan that came out really well in case you're looking for more of a LC color for your shirt you may look into doing that. I had the WPG pants also but they're not the right tone for LC imo. I have some costume base pants I'm using until I get a pair of westeds.car96 wrote:The shirt and pants were and are not trying to be LC styles.

Kudos again on your gear
Re: Last Crusade Fedora
If you want some deadly accurate LC pairs you get them from Magnoli and not wested. The wested are the pants that are the least accurate of them all, to LC at least. Both in cut, detail and color.
I located some original ww2 officers pinks in the lighter khaki color that are dead ringers for LC. I dunno if you saw the ones I am wearing in a thread I made last year about LC gear. Could be something to look for.
Anyways, lets get this on track about the hat. Just offered my 2c on the pants

Re: Last Crusade Fedora
Yes I saw the pinks you have and their almost identical, at least to my eye, to some of the pairs HF wears in LC. I thought the magnoli pants would be the way to go as well for LC but it seems that a lot of gear heads think the westeds are the closest in color. I never saw the resemblence between what I saw in the film and the westeds so thanks for reinforcing my own opinion Holt. Now back to hats: I have a Steele & Jones '38 for sale on the bay if an tones interested. It's perfect but unfortunately it was blocked on a regular oval block when I needed a long oval.

Re: Last Crusade Fedora
I ran across that hat while searching eBay last night! Looks great and great price but too big for me unfortunately, otherwise I may have snapped it up. Good luck with the sale!anindyjones wrote:Now back to hats: I have a Steele & Jones '38 for sale on the bay if an tones interested. Re: Last Crusade Fedora
Hi, to those who don't know me, I'm Roberto O'Brien, Diego's partner in Steele & Jones.
As I read some questions above, just wanted to let you know that the felt we use is wild hare fur felt (not rabbit), and about shipping, once the hat is finished, it usually takes 7-14 days, depending on the Customs clearance. We send hats and jackets as personal gifts, so they don't take long at the customs, and you don't have to pay taxes neither.
That being clarified, for some reason most of our last orders were Last Crusade fedoras, so I'll share a pic of Henry Walton, the Steele & Jones pet, wearing one of them before being shipped... Hope you like it...
