Wested Temple of Doom in Authentic Goat

Post by corbellatoris »

I took the plunge on a Wested ToD in Goat. I had an off the rack Wested Raiders jacket a few years ago, but wore it out after 2 years of very hard use.

This time, I thought I would go with Goatskin, as it has a reputation for toughness. The Raider jacket fit me very well, and the measurements I took actually matched up pretty closely with the sizes on their off the rack jackets.

I ordered:

Temple of Doom Jacket

Skin:Authentic Brown Goatskin
Chest Size: 42
Back Length: 26
Sleeve Length: 25
Lining: All Cotton
Side Straps: D-Rings + X-box stitch
Extra Inside Pocket?: Yes with zip

Extra Measurements:

Waist 38"
Bicep 15.5"
Shoulder 7"

Here is how it came out:

By my eyes, the last picture is the most color accurate.

What do you all think? I think it's pretty good for a first try, but if I were to order again today, I would bump up the chest to 44, bump down the sleeves to 24.5, and bump up the length to 25.5.

Looks great! :TOH:

As been posted a LOT over the years, don't try and judge the jacket (regardless of maker) TOO harshly right after you get the jacket. It has yet to settle onto your body after getting warm and being worn on a daily basis.

You're going to lose some of that sleeve length due to 'ride up' at the elbows, so a LOT of that extra length will be naturally absorbed into those wrinkles after a short period of time.

The same thing will happen with the back.

I think you just need to break it in first for a couple of months, THEN decide if those thoughts still hold water.

To my eye, you did great for an OTR jacket! I can find no faults here. :M:

It looks awesome on you! :whip: As Michaelson said, I think you'll find the sleeve length to be excellent after some wear, and the goat should certainly bring you through many adventures. On a side note, I never realized how large the zipper was on the TOD model. 8-[]

I always purposely add about an inch to the sleeve length. I figure they'll either wrinkle up and be the correct length, or I can take it to the tailor and have them shortened a bit. You can't add length if they begin too short, or get too short after they wrinkle up some...
