All of the "Close Enough" Boots?

Have had my Thursday's Boots for awhile and here is my experience:

Brown Diplomat Boot - I really liked the Indy vibe on these. The boots leather bunched up after wear starting at the base of the tongue going out a couple inches. Did not look good and of the three pairs, it had a loose fit. Went to charity.

Brown President Boot - Great fit and very comfortable. After wearing awhile, I noticed I had a big blister right before the big toe on my right foot. When I ran my hand inside the boot, I discovered a wear (dime size) place there. It was fraying which caused the blister. Went to charity.

Brown Captain Boot - Great fit and comfortable. No issues that I experienced with the other 2-pair.

All boots were the same size and I only wore them to work (desk job) and casual walking around. All the boots make my feet sweat and stain my socks.

Picked up some Kameroc boots by dr marten. Want to change out the laces. I went a size down from 10 to 9- felt like my size in a 10 was a little roomy and would only get roomier once broken in. Right now a little snug & hurt like crazy on the back of the leg at the high heel/achilles area. Maybe this is due to stiffness?

Wore my Todd's today whilst doing some construction work on the house (and perhaps imagining I was HF in his carpenter days- I'll never tell). I ended the day dog tired, but my feet feel pretty good. Photo with and w/o flash.

I saw these today on overstock and thought they looked pretty Indy-ish. They're suede and have a waffle tread, but if you could get over that fact I think they'd fit right in.

Nice! I am expecting my boots to arrive Tuesday. I found some Sebagos in a 13 (last pair so they were $59 with tax and shipping $\:D/$ ), and even though they differ from the SA boot, I need them not to slip and I need them to be comfortable and I need them to be in my price range. These have a coloring that makes them look broken in already.

Thought I'd put these up. Bought them a few days ago off of fleebay new at a cost of £40 buy it now, about $60-$65 dollars. They usually pop up on there.
They are Ted Baker Farsot boots. Being on a micro budget they will do for me.

A while back in this topic somebody mentioned Crevo boots. I recently found the Crevo Roughneck on Amazon for $35.00 USD. Here are a couple of snaps of the Crevo Roughneck in action:

I should have changed out the laces to something more old-timey. Other than the lug sole and the trendy striped laces, the Crevo Roughneck ain't too shabby as a "close enough" Indy boot. It's an adequately comfortable boot, too, and seems to be sufficiently durable for outdoor wear and hiking even though the Crevo products are marketed as "fashion boots."

I also picked up a pair of the Crevo Buck boots. The Buck actually looks a bit more Indy-esque, but I haven't yet had the opportunity to snap any pics.

Hello,

Kind of been away for a bit but was considering buying some close enough boots to complete my Indiana Jones out. However, there are a few stipulations I have in my search. One, that the boot must be 'rainproof', two ,that it be under 100 dollars, and can be worn everyday. (I plan to wear it as a dual use boot so that it won't just be for my ensemble)

Is there such a boot?

Most any leather boot can be "rain proofed" with some Huberd's shoe oil/grease.

Got these in 2008 when I was scrambling to throw my first (well, first since 1981/82) Indy costume together a day or 2 before Halloween. HipOppotamus brand, I think they cost around $30

If you go on to eBay UK and do a search for "red or dead apron boots", you'll see a good looking close-enough for only £31, from shoe retailer Schuh. Just bought a pair. Will report back when received.

They lost me at "designed specifically for the city boy". They wouldn't last me beyond a few weeks I bet with the torture I put mine through. Plus I need more aggressive soles. But man do they look GOOD in that dark brown leather.

Yeah.
Nicksboots will make you up a nice pair in workboot leather. They just won't have the moc toe stitching.

My 405s are holding up well to the abuse I put them through.

Okay, after lots of decisions I am finally looking to complete my TOD indy look by getting the Crevo Buck for a proper 'Indy' shoe.

I have the Walter Lace-Up from Frye and they are great boots.....especially after they break in. I've been very rough on them and have had no issues. Pricey but I am VERY happy with them.

I got some of those in November I think. Mine are perhaps a little dark and they arrived shiny of course, but that can easily be remedied. Personally I'm not worried about the dark shade of brown because I reckon they still look close enough and I got them in a sale for about 30 odd quid, so I can't complain.

I've found them very well fitted and comfortable and they've remained waterproof even in the constant heavy rain we've been having in the UK lately. I have noticed that where the laces have rubbed against the leather on the ankle, the dark brown colour has scuffed off to reveal a much lighter shade beneath. I reckon that these boots could age up rather well because of this rather obvious scuffing. As yet, no other part of the boot has scuffed in this way, but they don't get heavy use. There is the slightest hint of lightening of the colour around the stitching on the toe, but as I want them to last well, I'm prepared to let them age naturally.

I know this isn't much use without pictures, but I'll post some up as soon as.

My problem is (as always) sizing. I wear a size 15 and it is darn hard to find a regular pair of shoes to wear, much less an Indy boot. I like the retro adventurer style but I haven't really found a good boot in my size yet.

I have a 'like' problem, but not in 'size', but finding a pair in narrow widths. Unless you buy high end boots, manufacturers look at a curve in men's sizing and make all standard boots in wide widths.

I ordered those Pier Ones and they looked the part...but boy they were stiff and heavy! Soles are too thick and shoes themselves are narrow.So I sent them back.Search continues..

Although these boots come in quite a dark shade, some distressing would change that. This photo doesn't show it very well, but the inside heel has scuffed revealing a more reddish shade.

The laces have scuffed through the dark colour to reveal a much lighter shade of leather underneath, so these should age well with use or artificial distressing.

These are UK size 9.

Never, ever, been a fan of moc toe. Just wanted something a bit more accurate for dragon con, or other occasions for full gear. Otherwise plain toe is all I hike, camp, or whatever in.
