wested pre distressed raiders.

Post by doppelganger »

Hi all, My wait is over. I finally have my Raiders jacket. No squeaking but feels a little rubbery. Just needs breaking in I guess. Whats the best way to get rid of the shine, without rolling around on the floor or going on a peruvian expedition?

Looks great. What's the back length? And let's see how it looks on you.

To get rid of the shine just wear it. Getting caught in some rain will help as well. Time will take care of it. There are methods to help break in naturally. I learned it all from more experience members than myself. They told me to wear it a lot, and put it in a pillowcase and sleep with it as the warmth of your body will help relax it. Those two things helped mine break in and lose shine the most. That Michaelson character might come along and tell you to dip it in acetone and run it over with your car, but I advise against that.

Thanks guys. Its a standard size 48. It sits about 3 inches below belt hight so feels about right.

Yes, never dip it... always pour directly on... and Xylene works better!
(and yes, I'm kidding, DON'T use Xylene!)

Sorry if this thread is getting a bit pic heavy but I thought I'd put up this one after I took the shine off and added a little wear.

If it's the pre-d cowhide it never really develops any grain tho'. Nice hide but not as "character-ful" as the lamb or goat. It'll always feel a little rubbery as well. I've had mine 4 years and it's never really changed.
