Just got a Todd's...
I received my first Indy jacket today. I went with a Todd's because of the stellar reviews on their site, as well as affordability. I went with a medium, going by my measurements and looking at my other jackets that fit well. It's a little snug, mainly in the chest and shoulders... Is that normal? The sleeve length seems perfect, but I kinda wonder if I should have gone with a large, especially if I were to wear a sweater or sweatshirt underneath. Then it'll just plain be too tight to zip unless the sucker stretches out a bit. Other than that, it fits pretty well, looks fantastic overall, and seems to be a pretty darn good jacket for the money. Still want a Wested or two, though... And now I'm thinking I may need to go a size higher than I would have.

While thinner leathers can stretch a bit over time, it will be minimal. I would exchange it if I were you.

I usually wear a Large in all Jackets and shirts and got a Large in my Todd's. I should have gotten a XL. It will start to annoy you so I would exchange for a larger size.
As for posting from a phone. Download the Photobucket app.

I would also recommend exchanging it. That nagging "Should I...?" can haunt you.
For me personally, I've found that the screen-accurate jacket fit is not nearly as comfortable as one that fits slightly looser. It really depends on the cut of the jacket. That's one reason why I loved the cut of the old US Wings signature series jackets over my previous OTR Wested.

Similarly, I wear a Large in almost everything except Indy jackets.erikgunnlugson wrote:I usually wear a Large in all Jackets and shirts and got a Large in my Todd's. I should have gotten a XL. It will start to annoy you so I would exchange for a larger size.

So you guys are of the "one size bigger" opinions, it seems.

Dang. I tried that and they all showed up when I previewed the post. I'm trying it from Dropbox; maybe that's the problem.

Okay, forgive me, how do I resize? It's probably been a decade since I've posted pictures to a forum...

Re: Just got a Todd's...
It's a close call, but it does not look to small on you. Zipped it might be a little tight, but unzipped, it looks great. Ideally, the sleeves should hit the first knuckle, but even that is not too bad for an OTR fit.
How does it feel to wear? The side photo with your hands in your pockets, looks like a comfortable jacket? Sometimes leather needs time to relax, and you may need to shape that collar a bit. If you decide to keep it, just give it a good once over with leather lotion and you will see it begin to take shape.
The Raiders jacket was on the short side, not above the belt, though. You just need to decide if you want a more fitted jacket, like film or relaxed?

Re: Just got a Todd's...
Apologies for the big pics.
Thank you for the evaluation. I've been wearing it as I can today, and it isn't uncomfortable at all. I actually like the way it looks in the pics.

I'd let it hang and let gravity do its work, when you are not wearing it. If you make a decision to keep it then give it some lotion. I like to clothes pin the ends of the collar together and hang it that way overnight. It goes into shock in that box trip and needs time to relax and for the folds to work themselves out.

Very cool; thanks for the tips. I'm very new to ALL this and got bitten by the Indy bug out of nowhere after having grown up with the films. I think I am gonna keep it, and I'm thinking of a Wested LC in pre-distressed cow or maybe goatskin for winter. Maybe go a little bigger on that one for layering.

Well, that settles it. I went out last night with a certain lady who wouldn't stop talking about how much she likes it on me.

Leather in winter... Where are you located? Even with layering, it can be tough to get through a northern winter in leather. I found heavy cowhide to be best, down to about 40 degrees FF with a sweater.

From where I'm sitting, that jacket looks like an excellent fit. I'd call it a keeper!

Re: Just got a Todd's...
Thanks, everyone. Your input is much appreciated. I'm in Michigan, and winters here can be absolutely brutal. My "winter coat" for the last seventeen years or so is a (minimally) lined cowhide. I don't spend any more time outside than is absolutely necessary when it's cold.
Re: Just got a Todd's...
Hi there! Great looking jacket! I think that's how it should look.Wear it a while and it should look even better.

I think part of my initial impression was just that it felt so different than any of my other jackets. I've been wearing it every day, and I'm really liking it. Both the way it looks and the way it feels. And you can't beat the price. Next stop: Wested.

Well, based on this post, I think this entire conversation is over now. It stays in your collection.kozmoedave wrote:Well, that settles it. I went out last night with a certain lady who wouldn't stop talking about how much she likes it on me.
Seriously, I couldn't agree more with the above. You can't really judge these things 'right out of the box'. They have to be worn to form fit, and from these photos, I think this one will become an old friend in very short order.
