! Gee....hard as I tried....I can't get my wife to agree to me purchasing this one, simple jacket ! Wonder if this is ligit? Looks all legal and proper, but these things always cause me doubt. Looks like a case for one of the experts from "Pawn Stars" ! W>bookman60 wrote:If this is not allowed, please delete.

Might be one expensive repro if it didn't work out?

Re: Fords Jacket on Ebay
Ordinarily we don't allow for auctions to be posted unless it is the members' own auction. I think in this case we can make an exception.
Reading the description it leaves one wondering.
I highly doubt it was a screen used jacket. Nothing in the description says as much and a LOA from Tony is meaningless. He may have certified he made the jacket, but once it left the shop Tony had no control over which jacket was actually used.
I'd have a hard time swallowing that price for a screen used hero jacket let alone one that likely never left the wardrobe trailer.

Indiana Jeff

This has been tried a few times - a genuine TN from the time in the right leather but not screen used. You can get one identical in the Cairo Bazaar for around $700.

Re: Fords Jacket on Ebay
Both listings are from Profiles in History. They are a well known auction house.
But as with all sales involving movie memorabilia, it pays to be extra cautious of wording and know what you are purchasing.
Same topic came up in a different thread that language in these auctions is often vague and may imply more than is the fact.
http://indygear.com/cow/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=64889" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Or items can just be listed incorrectly as I pointed out.

Yes it's Profiles but I missed the evidence that this jacket is from the film?

Re: Fords Jacket on Ebay
I was searching for a good close up photo of the CS jacket last night, because I didn't remember anything about the CS jacket being double stitched at the shoulder seams? We don't really get to see the insides of it. The personal embroidery to a happy interdimensional being might just give it away... If it was double stitched at the shoulders it was the only jacket of the series. I think TN made several jackets for the movie, did he not, so there is a good chance that if this one is real, it did not see any airtime.
I remember someone going to Pawn (PS) with a whip, but it could not be verified. Buyers grow increasing skeptical about supposed film used items, because there is much fraud and forgery, and not saying that this one is absolutely a fake, but it pays to know beforehand. We have one actual photo of the jacket on auction.

the double stitching was on the outside of the jackets shoulder seams

are you saying that double stitching on the shoulder seams was SA for CS?

Hey, you laugh, but people will pay high dollar for 'screen used'...? What did the LC jacket sell for?

Yes! The double stitched shoulders one of the major oddities that came from the archive sample that Lucasfilm wanted replicated to make the CS. The only other jacket previous to that I can recall was a merchandise jacket.Texan Scott wrote:donovan wrote:the double stitching was on the outside of the jackets shoulder seams

Found it! I believe it was the Cooper/Disney.

Re: Fords Jacket on Ebay
So CS was a copy of the merchandise jacket down to cowhide and double stitch.
Just get a merchandise jacket and save a good $40K, give or take? Let's see..... ....$100 or $40k..?
Many good COW options in the forum right now, Diego's LC, Wested's plethora of cowhides, etc.

Re: Fords Jacket on Ebay
Pretty amazing when you consider they're ALL made from some kind of animal hide, some thread, snaps, a zipper, and all based on the same pattern.
All you're paying for the provenance.

Re: Fords Jacket on Ebay
And questionable provenance at that. The description is really vague about even being a production made jacket let alone a screen used one.
CM called it, you can get a TNO made during the same period using the same materials for 1% ($700/$40000) of the auction price.

Re: Fords Jacket on Ebay
They used to have a show (maybe they still do...) Hollywood Treasures, but the way they went about proving stuff was always a bit flaky.
Unless the stuff came directly from the original source (which did happen every so often) they based everything on screen shots, and details form photos.
In some case they would be able to match a particular detail, scratch, ding, color, etc..., to an actual seen.
Then they'd offer it as screen used.
Still too much for the jacket...

Totally agreed! To me, even if it is an screen used jacket the price is way too high for the movie in question. (Assuming SU) Sure it's a jacket worn by Ford. Yes, it's from an Indy film (Kingdom), yes, etc. My point is that "Kingdom" is certainly not that big of a draw-selling point. Now if this was an screen used jacket from "Raiders" then the starting price point here is probably too low! Just because it may or may not have been worn by Ford is not a good selling point considering the movie here and motivation (at least as I view it) to purchase at such a high price. Again, if it were "Raiders," or even the other two films -- perhaps. But this is just me thinkin' . W>

Re: Fords Jacket on Ebay
It's probably one of the many jackets made for the film, but perhaps not the hero jacket. It looks legit to me. It has the long sleeves and the added length in the body seen on film. The lining and tags would separate it from the jackets Tony made for the fans. Did Ford actually wear this particular jacket? Was it seen on screen? Probably not, as there is no claim or proof. But most likely, this jacket was present among the film's wardrobe.
