Color of Indy's suit while teaching at Barnett college
By chance, does anyone know the color of the 3-piece suit worn by Indy in the opening scenes in the Last Crusade where he is teaching at Barnett College? In the scene where he first meets Donovan, it clearly is a gray striped 3-piece suit. It looks nice but that said, I saw a website showing that same suit at auction (at least they claim it was the same suit worn by Harrison Ford)...it was definitely brown not gray.

Well, hard to say. Looking at screen caps here http://movie-screencaps.com/indiana-jon ... e-1989/11/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
the interior scenes (classroom, Indy's office and Donovan's apartment) the suit looks grey, but when Indy climbs out of his window and in natural light the suit looks brown.
Of course, given set lighting and post-production color correction, screen caps are not the best way to determine a piece of wardrobe's color.

Indiana Jeff

Indiana Jeff,
Thanks for the 411 and the link (did not know that link existed). Indy's outfit at the school and climbing out of the window certainly looks brown, almost a rose color like his typical "working" pants. I was contemplating buying a similar suit (I like the appearance and the time period) but was interested in SA color. Might just lean towards the brown but the gray looks nice as well.
Thanks again, appreciate the help

Being as it's probably tweed, or a intended to have that look, I'm thinking it's gray with brown tones woven in. In fact, the stripes look like they might be a brown or taupe color. It's not uncommon to find that sort of mixed coloration. Even if the suit is all gray tones, they would be warm, earthy grays. Otherwise, the brown hat would look all wrong with it.

I can't find the original info, but the auction listing for the original suit had it listed as brown-taupe tweed with some coloring in the stripes (purple comes to mind!) so it is certainly a VERY difficult fabric to match.

The tweed jacket I have for my Pankot Palace look is like this. With Indy gear it takes on a brown color, but if I wear it with blue trousers the grey really comes out.
